One of the most popular restaurants at IOI City Mall, it is actually a great place for brunch on a weekend (or holiday) before it gets packed at lunch time. We were there at about 11 am on Fathers Day 2024 and it was surprisingly quiet. However by the time we finished our meal, the restaurant was bustling and queue had formed outside. The servers were very professional and did not rush us. Very courteous and obliging in refilling our tea too. Kudos to the team. Do tell them if you do not want the peanuts and wet towels as these are chargeable.
All the food we ordered were good or exceptional. The Xiao Long Bao (normal and spicy versions) are highly recommended as is the Braised Pork Shanghainese style served with mantao. All the dim sum were fresh and tasty and I especially liked the XO Sauce Fried Radish Cake.
Back again for New Years Day brunch. Perfect time seems to be 11 am, hardly any customers and kitchen is free. The Braised Pork, XO Sauce Fried Radish Cake and Xiao Long Bao were excellent as before. These are all Highly Recommended.
I love their Black Fungus and Cucumber in Vinegar salad. It really opens up the appetite and is an excellent starter. Perfect balance of sweet and sour.
Also good were their Signature Shrimp Fried Rice, Shanghainese Pan Fried Bao and Steamed Egg Yolk Custard Buns. The latter not only tastes great but looks stunning in black with gold stripes on top!
Mothers Day 2025 - all quiet at 11 am. Perfect place for a nice brunch. Besides the old favourites, we had the Pork Ribs with Black Vinegar which was quite tasty but a little tough. The Stir Fried Cabbage with Shredded Pork and Glass Noodles was a little lacking in flavour but was uplifted by the tasty Chilli Oil on the table. More cabbage and less glass noodles would be more appropriate...
Read moreDragon-i has been synonymous with good Chinese food for quite a while now. Outlets are normally found in shopping centres, and are designated into two different types, one that is the normal Dragon-i, and the other ones that also have Peking Duck as part of their menu.
The decor of this mid-sized outlet is very lush, very well decorated resulting in a well-lit dining area. There are special rooms away from the main dining hall as well, and that can be accessed through the walkway on the left as you enter the restaurant.
The extensive menu can be used for browsing, but the staff will encourage you to scan the provided QR code and order online. However, as I visited during a weekend which saw huge crowds in the mall, my internet service was very slow. The captain gladly took my order when I told her about the issue.
I've been dining at other Dragon-i for almost 20 years now, since they first opened in another mall in 2004. Food quality has remained consistently high, and throughout the years, I've rarely found issues with the food or the service.
As I was dining alone in this outlet, I only ordered the Dan Dan La Mian and an Braised Eggplant with pork. The Dan Dan La Mian arrived shortly after, while the eggplant didn't take long to arrive as well.
The Dan Dan La Mian is noodle based, in a spicy soup that has ground peanuts in it. The spicy, nutty soup lends well to the springy noodles.
The eggplant is served in a claypot, sizzling away as it arrives. Topped with minced pork, it is slightly spicy, and the bean paste can be tasted in the sauce. Delicious.
While prices are on the high side, it's worth the extra few bucks as it guarantees a good meal every time...
Read moreI had dinner with my family at i-Dragon Restaurant in IOI City Mall yesterday, and it was a pleasant experience overall. From the moment we arrived, the service stood out as excellent. The staff were attentive, professional, and swift in responding to requests, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience despite the busy atmosphere.
The restaurant was quite crowded during dinner time, so I would recommend making a reservation to secure a table, especially if youâre visiting with a larger group. The bustling environment added to the lively ambiance, but itâs worth planning ahead to avoid waiting.
As for the food, it was delightful and reasonably priced. The menu offered a variety of dishes, and the ones we tried were well-prepared and flavorful. The fried tofu was a standout dishâcrispy on the outside and soft on the inside, it was a hit with everyone at the table. The Xiao Long Bao was also impressive, with its delicate wrapper and juicy, flavorful filling. Both dishes are highly recommended for anyone dining here.
The overall ambiance was comfortable and family-friendly, making it a great spot for gatherings. Despite the crowd, the staffâs efficiency ensured that our orders arrived promptly, and the quality of the food remained consistent.
In summary, i-Dragon Restaurant offers excellent service, delicious food, and reasonable prices. Itâs a great choice for a family dinner or a casual meal with friends. Weâll definitely be returning to try more...
