Ichiban Ramen @ IOI City Mall — Restaurant in Sepang

Surprised with both good and bad reason. In short I was disappointed with their takoyaki, dumplings and their drinks.

Starting off with PROS. The portion was a lot, its great and the right amount for a vacuum tummy like mine. They also served extra dumplings (6 in the menu, they served extra 3). Takoyaki was served with some mixed veges. Their drinks price are okay, slightly on the average side, not cheap but not too overpriced either and you can get green tea for as little as RM2 or so. The shrimps they served are pretty big too. Service are quick too.

Now to the CONS. The price for drinks is okay BUT, they don't even fill up the drinks completely (As seen in picture). I'm disappointed with the takoyaki and dumplings tasted bland. While the price for the drinks are okay, the food is definitely more to the expensive side, reaching more than 20 ringgit on most.

Finally, lets talk about the location, don't worry, its in iOi, parking is not a problem, also this restaurant will always have some empty seats, everything is enough for me to eat comfortably.

I'm not sure whether I should give this restaurant another try or not. depending on who you ask, its probably me being picky about the dumpling and takoyaki which i'd recommend avoiding for now, everything else is okay.

Food: Firstly, food; food was honestly quite disappointing. The Japanese fried rice was lacking in ingredients and did really taste like a proper Japanese fried rice for the RM9.90 price tag it had. And the chicken teriyaki they served was quite bland; it tasted as if the chicken were cooked first; only then did teriyaki sauce get drizzled on. Not to mention, the gyoza we ordered was the most regretted of all; when you bite into it, you could only taste ginger, and that is it—the smell was absolutely pungent.

Service: Secondly, service was not the worst, but they did take quite long to serve the chicken teriyaki set meal and also did not inform that the gyoza would be served late since they had only started making it. The one good thing about their service is that a worker gave us another spoon after one of ours had fallen to the ground.

I had high hopes for this branch after a fantastic experience at another franchise location, but unfortunately, it was a massive disappointment. The hygiene standards were shockingly poor—one of the staff members touched my food with her bare hands to check the temperature. To make matters worse, the person in charge of cleaning was also serving food, which raises serious concerns about cross-contamination.

The food quality was nowhere near the standard of the other franchise I’ve visited, and it was a letdown in both taste and presentation. On top of that, the service was equally frustrating. We had to remind the staff to bring our drinks, which finally arrived after we had finished our meal.

This experience was far from the high standards I expected, and I would not recommend this branch unless significant...
