I am no businesswoman, but I can foresee that this place will not last long. 3 years top. Reasons:
High maintenance location at symphony walk and high maintenance staff (too many!). Not particularly bad, but the turnover for customers is slow. 1 table is occupied at least 30 - 45 minutes. Leaving a long queue behind. Unless u order take away, that is. Probably cause the place is newly opened, the attraction is still there. However, I foresee that the ROI will be difficult for the owner to get within the targeted period of time because of these issues.
People go there for the bbq experience. Having a good time with family while grilling food themselves instead of the food being served by staff. The food also takes longer to cook since the staff juggles between tables & they don't allow customers to cook ourselves. 😑 This again makes customers stay longer than the intended time.
Now, come to service. It's not as excellent as some of the reviews here. My family came early about 15 minutes earlier than opening time & waited outside. We were 2nd in line, so we were quite happy. Even when the place opened between 5 - 10 minutes late, we didn't mind. As soon as we were seated, we already knew what we wanted to order. So, we called one of the staff. He came & started taking orders. Suddenly, the supervisor came & told us that they were currently seating customers only since the kitchen is still not ready yet. They will only take order when the kitchen is open, which will be at 12 pm. We were like, oh, ok.... This has never happened to us before. But we still didn't mind until about 2-3 minutes later, other tables who came much later than us started ordering & their orders are accepted! We were like, what the heck???? So, our effort of coming earlier to get in line was left in vain.... People who came much later than us got their food first & left first. There were also issues with our order. We ordered mineral water but were told they were out of them. Later, we saw that other tables were able to order them.😠. 2 other orders had issues as well. 1 order was still pending, but when asked, suddenly they told us it was not available after we were almost done eating... Another order was captured in their phone apps, but somehow, it was not printed in the receipt & sure enough, the order didn't go through to the kitchen.... So, we had to wait some more....
Food wise, unless u ordered marinated meat, all the meat came bare. You are supposed to dip them in 2 kinds of dips. Guess what the dippings were? Sambal belacan with kuinin & flavoured oil, which was literally some vegetable oil splashed with sesame oil & half teaspoon of salt 😑 If the cooking was left to us, we would have mixed the sauce as marinade before grilling the meat. But no, the server didn't allow us 😕. So, u end up eating meat that is seasoned on 1 end and 1 end bare meat cause u don't want the whole thing to be too salty.... Other food, japchae & yangnyeom chicken were so-so only..
Price wise, pricey for the portion.
My review may sound harsh, but that's the reality of this latest in town eatery. One customer's review stated that it was a once in a lifetime experience for him @ her.... For me, the term is too gentle cause that term is supposed to be used for good experience. Our experience was, rather, never again experience. I guess maybe the cashier or supervisor may have realised it when we refused to sign up for membership points collection 🤭
Anyway, owner, if u plan to keep this restaurant open for a long time, u need to make adjustments in terms of the staffing & food. If not, u will just be flushing out ur earnings as influencers down the toilet with...
Read moreCame here for lunch , ordered the Set B , kimchi pancakes, honey chicken wings, soy garlic chicken wings and tteokbokki.
Ambiance is nice, it has the Korean restaurant vibe. The deco was nice too, only problem was the air conditioner were not working properly on that day. But I understand that the air conditioning is centralised from the IOI mall itself, so this wasn’t a issue coming from the establishment itself.
Servers were okay, they were attentive but the only issue were they didn’t check our order to see if everything has come to our table, this resulted in us getting our drinks to arrived late and Steamed egg from the set to arrive after we have almost finish with our other main courses.
Food wise, the taste of authentic Korean is not there, the honey chicken wings were too sweet as the honey overpowered all the other flavours of the chicken itself and the batter thus resulted in us only tasting honey. Beef and octopus were okay , like other restaurants regular grilled meat and seafood. Kimchi pancake were a bit soggy from the oil , kimchi taste were there just wished it wasn’t soggy. Steamed egg tasted normal , the cheese complimented the egg to give it abit more flavour. Tteokbokki didn’t have the authenticity of it being a Korean dish cause all we tasted were the gochujang mixed with water and no other flavour was present.
The price is decent as we spend rm200++ for 2 pax.
This is my personal opinion on this establishment, it is not on a place where I will return for another dining session, but you guys can have a go...
Read moreMe & my family had an incredible experience at K-Garden, the first Muslim Korean BBQ restaurant in Malaysia. From the moment I stepped in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the stage for a memorable dining experience. As someone who follows halal dietary guidelines, I was thrilled to find a restaurant that caters to these needs while offering authentic Korean BBQ.
The menu at K-Garden is diverse, offering a wide selection of marinated meats and fresh vegetables. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive.
The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the barbecue itself. The marinated meats were not only tender but burst with Korean flavors. I particularly enjoyed the Bulgogi and Galbi dishes, which were exceptionally delicious. The grilling tables added an interactive element to the meal, making it a fun and social experience.
To complement the meal, the restaurant offered a variety of Korean side dishes, such as kimchi which were delightful. The authentic taste of these accompaniments added to the overall experience.
The service was top-notch, and the ambiance was pleasant. I would highly recommend K-Garden to anyone looking for a unique dining experience that respects halal dietary requirements while delivering the flavors of Korean BBQ in an...
