Trabuxu Wine Bar — Local services in Valletta

We spent 2 evenings at Trabuxu. The 1st night we had a lovely time for a few glasses of wine at the bar (we had already eaten dinner) and we watched the charcuterie and cheese boards being put together so returned the next night. Unfortunately, my husband felt ill (came on quickly after we had already ordered) so we had to have our order wrapped up to go. The entire staff was amazing in helping us get paid/wrapped up quickly to get him home. They had been amazing the night before - GREAT service and lovely people explaining the wine choices etc but then on the second night, wow, just wow from helping us to being discreet and so so so nice (when you feel that poorly, to have kindness is so helpful). My partner and I had not booked a table but went in anyway about 7.30 on Saturday evening. No tables available as all taken so a rustic table was pulled out for us to sit at next to where they cut the bread. We agreed to this as we were just glad to get a table. We sat down and waited for a drink or food menu but this didnt happen. The table was not prepared for food ie cutlery etc. No one seemed interested in us and staff seemed pre-occupied talking at the bar. We waited for 5 minutes or so then I decided to ask for a menu. I was told that the menu is on the board on the wall. Of course this was not mentioned when we sat down nor was it very visible in the dim light. A lack of communication and im still waiting to be offered a drink. We decided to leave. Wont be back. Maybe just a bad day...

Easy to miss if you’re not aware what a gem you are passing by, this wine bar has a beautiful selection of wines. The oldest and by far the best wine bar in Malta. We found this place by chance and were welcomed by Andres, we have felt like home since the first time. Since then, we also brought our family here and were welcomed by the owner Chris, who embodies the spirit of this establishment. Do try the chicken pâté!
