Definitely do NOT recommend. Horrible quality food, despite how great they sound on the menu, and atrocious service. Upon walking into the completely empty restaurant, my family and I were seated under a TV blasting loud Italian trap music, and we asked the server to turn the music down. He dragged his feet over to the remote and shut it off, only to turn the music right back on 10 minutes later. Even though the music was not quite enough to give us all full-blown migraines, the 40 minute wait for our drinks was. The “clean” cups of water given to us smelled disgustingly fishy, but nothing was worse than the bathrooms. If you need to use the restroom anywhere in Valletta, please let it NOT be this restaurant. When we finally got our drinks, the waiter grumbled taking our food orders and said “no” to half of the items we asked for. They simply didn’t have half of the menu available to eat. After taking our orders, the waiter grabbed the rest of the smoothie that my sister had ordered and sat down at the table next to us, drinking straight out of the blender with one hand while cranking up the music with his other. It pains me to reflect back on the food situation, but for this review, I must. We ordered a kids’ sized pizza for the children in our group, and there was SAND in the pizza. Every bite was grainy and crunchy. The sandwich I ordered for myself was a chicken and bacon one, but let me just say, if the title of the sandwich was erased, I seriously wouldn’t be able to tell you what the mysterious meats on my sandwich were. The “chicken” was spongy and grey, and the bacon was basically as raw as it would’ve been if it were stripped right from a pig. My sister’s spaghetti carbonara smelled like burning rubber and tires, which I was genuinely concerned about how the chef even managed to achieve that gag-inducing odor. We finally left about 2 hours later, and as soon as the waiter landed his eyes on my stepdad’s overly generous tip, he actually smiled. For once. By all means, please avoid this restaurant at all costs. I would be surprised if it even lasts long enough for anyone reading this to have a chance to go try it out, considering how empty it was and the lack of food...
Read moreOrdered a 'Maltese Coffee', described as made with fresh coffee. What turned up was clearly made with instant coffee, with a lot of the granules still floating on the top. Tasted grim. We also ordered two Coke Zeros but were presented with full fat Coke. When one of our party pointed out the error the waiter became quite argumentative, saying that all Coke has the exact same amount of sugar in it, so what's our problem. The fourth drink was incorrect and when this was mentioned he stormed off and returned with the correct drink and slammed it down on the table. Not a good day for this waiter at Ranieri, did not handle the situation well at all. We were very polite about the incorrect Coke and the wrong drink but he was surly and snarky, so I didn't venture to mention the...
Read moreWe were given a warm welcome by one of the shiest waiters ever. He seemed so puzzled and lost. Pizza tasted good, the service was fast enough. Upon requesting the bill, the waiter didn't present any but told is a number which seemed unreasonably high for the price of two zero cokes, two pizzas and an espresso. A few seconds later he came back to apologise and gave some euros back but not the full difference, keeping 6.8€ for himself. It happened some minutes before closing the restaurant so be aware of their intentions about trying to make some more income. The inside of the restaurant was dirty, litter and stains on the floor, no toilet paper and the restroom looked like in a...
