October 25th 1969 is the opening date for this restaurant. I have lived and visited Tijuana off and on for 40 years and have a slight recollection of visiting here when I was young. My grandma brought me here and I had not returned, until yesterday.
What a treasure this restaurant is. With 8 locations throughout the ever growing city, we visited the original. The decor is a classic but high end feel. Fillippis' and La Bellas in SD should take notes. This family style environment doesn't have to have run down carpets and dark red paint on the walls with fake plants, that most restaurants of this caliber tend to have. Guiseppis has tile throughout and a beautifully painted mural that places you right in the middle of Venice, Italy. It even has a Disneyland effect when the lights are turned low.
The food is excellent. We ordered Lasagna and a famous house Chicken Parmigiana. The dessert however took the show. It was Flan. Not a typical Italian dessert but we are in Mexico after all. It was the most soft, custardy (is custardy even a word?) semi-sweet decadence I've tasted in a long time.
Between 10 people the bill came to $225. That's $45 per couple. Beat that Big SD, where prices...

The food portions are smaller, prices have increased, naturally, but the major change was in the quality of the food; it has diminished greatly. The lasagna from Costco's freezer section has more flavor! And, our entrees were not served hot.
Today's visit felt like the accountants are running the company with all the cuts in food quality.
With its history, we hope positive changes are coming. With so many good restaurants to eat at in Tijuana, we will dine elsewhere.
2018 - We really like this place for casual dining. Serving Italian food and pizza with beer and wine pairings the small local chain serves delicious food. Lasagna, ravioli, fettuccine Alfredo with or without chicken are all good choices. The salads are quite good too. Their home baked bread is delicious and we like to request it warmed. It's yum with the homemade garlic butter. Each meal comes with Mediterranean Vegetable soup, salad and bread. Just choose your favorite wine or other drink. Dinner for 2 is typically around $20 - $25...
Read moreA bona-fide Italian restaurant or so I was told by the people that brought me here. It's a very nice looking place, clean and neat. The food is surprisingly not expensive, I was ready to be charged a lot just by seeing the inside of the restaurant. The good is pretty good, I think it lacks a little more taste or at least for me, don't get me wrong, it's not bad it's just that I felt it was lacking a little bit. The only issue we had was the service which was excellent all the way from parking, to guiding us to the table, to ordering and serving us the food. But the issue with the service was when asking the bill, I asked at least 3 different waiters to no avail, a member of my party had to stand up and go to the front and ask from a floor manager or something. Other than that we had a wonderful experience and they even had this little show there they turn off the lights and they change to a kind of black light that enhances the fluorescent parts of the paintings in the walls,...
