TLDR1: I would go back and try again, more cautiously. TLDR2: Skip the gravlax.
If you're a local or you have a hard stomach or will be more careful than me, go check it out because the quality of the food is good, service is excellent, and atmosphere is really enjoyable.
I really want to give this place more stars but I'm pretty sure I got sick here on the last day of my trip. I haven't been to Mexico in 20 years and I have a soft stomach.
I had several of the fresh juices (they were fresh, I could hear/see the blender), and this is probably what got me. I had flat water served to me in a glass, but I thought it was bottled. It could have been the gravlax, I also had the avocado toast with gravlax.
My waitress was friendly and helpful and service was excellent. Food serving size and freshness was excellent, I was impressed with the quality of the ingredients.
90% of it tasted good, I was craving fresh juice because I was so dehydrated from the altitude and climate and the variety here is great. The green juice was delicious and affordable.
The only thing I didn't like, and didn't eat, was the gravlax. It wasn't fishy and smelled fine. It seemed possibly homemade, but it's wayyyyyy undersalted and the cut used for it was really fatty so the texture was off, it was soft and a little mushy instead of firm. I couldn't eat it.
I would go back and try again, even after getting sick. I would just be more careful next time.
I wouldn't get the fresh juice even though it was delicious. I would get sparkling water only. I would not get gravlax.
But I would try this...
Read moreCame here for brunch. We started with the pink and black lates. They are more like flavored steamer. They were a cute experience but not my taste. We also had a green juice which was fresh and delicious. I ordered the Salmon Gravlax Boursin, which was delicious. The eggs were so good! The dish had too much cheese for my taste, I would have preferred a dollop of it on the side so I could fully enjoy the eggs and freshness of the salmon. I would definitely order it again, just with less of the cheese. My husband ordered the Salmon Gravlax, which was delicious. He ended up eating it open faced with only half the bagel. It was a sharable size! We got the French toast with frutis rojos, and that was the best. We were sooo full we had kind of regretted ordering it, but once we tried it, it was worth it. It was supper light and delicious, not overwhelmingly...
Read moreAs much as I don't enjoy writing bad reviews, the food here was terrible--and I'm exclusively talking about the sandwiches, not the bakery next door.
Everything is on this thinly sliced, tough, flavorless bread, and they don't tell you when something is a tartine as opposed to an actual sandwich. The tartine I received actually had a small beetle in it and was absolutely DRENCHED in olive oil and "pesto." At least, they said it was pesto. It was green, but didn't have any basil or garlic flavor. The goat cheese and slices of prosciutto were fine but nothing spectacular. It was absolutely not worth the $125 pesos with tip. I couldn't take more than a bite or two without being completely disgusted--and I lived in Italy and Greece so I love good olive...
