Damn. Wish I discovered this place sooner. Was in Tulum for a month and went to many different bakeries/cafes for bread and chocolate croissants (my husband is a fiend for these lol). I literally brought home 8 pain au chocolats from different pananderias across the city (nimeno, Rossina, Campanella, Delcielo, Mayaxel cafe, etc)
And by far the best one that was able to elicit a response from husband, exact quote “wow this is the best chocolate croissant I’ve ever had” which is an EPIC claim, was from El Abasto. I had the almond croissant and wow it was delicious- like if a croissant and baklava had a baby.
This place is so cute with painted walls and furniture. Has a real unique and welcoming vibe. The coffee was great and I peeped the case full of quiche and meats/cheeses, I bet everything they make on the menu is delicious.
Like I said, wish I discovered this...

Got bitten by mosquitoes here too so this place really didn’t work for me.. Epic fail. Check out the real croissants and pastries down the main road at La Fournée. Half the price and they are as good as...
Read moreMany thanks to Leo and Paloma for a great breakfast experience here today. The croissants we had were quite good, and the coffee was very much to our taste (good ratio of coffee to water, stronger than others we tried in Tulum but without being too bitter or sour).
Leo spoke English quite well and was super patient with us, helping us navigate the menu and explaining the difference between the various pastries they make. He also gave us more info about the coffee they serve, and gave us some good pointers on the attractions around Tulum and the best ways to get there.
We hope to go back before the end of our trip and would definitely...
