Tropi Tacos — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

beware if you’re a tourist. this place is usually good the previous times i’ve went, but this latest time was a disaster. they they added on tip when i said no tip, and then double charged me on my card. instead of $13 it’s almost $30. i usually tip but this time the food was cold, water was out (couldn’t wash hands after using the bathroom, meaning neither could the cooks), it took an hour to order and get food, and they didn’t include all the salsas. i won’t be back now, and i will make sure to do a charge back on my card when it’s finally posted. if it’s good, it’s great- but when they miss it’s a HUGE miss. beware and be careful.

EDIT: added a star because they are cheaper than the one down the road on the main strip! but i won’t be back regardless due to the terrible service, food experience, lack of communication...

BEWARE!!! I was paying with tap, so just tapped my phone without looking at the total on the terminal screen. My husband happened to glance at it and noticed they tried to charge us DOUBLE what our dinner cost was. My husband asked for the terminal receipt and the server tried to hide it behind the dinner receipt my husband ripped it from his hand and demanded the difference back in cash. The server was smirking and giggling to the rest of the staff knowing he got caught. When they gave us the cash difference back, my husband calculated it and they shorted us again!!! Probably the best tacos we had during our stay in Mexico. A lot of different salsas, perfectly seasoned and juicy meat and fresh ingredients. Why can't restaurants in Playa del Carmen be as good as Tropi Tacos in Tulum. Service was friendly and helpful as well, always a smile on their face. Food come out quick from the kitchen and tastes amazing.

The location itself is nice too, a bit off the main street, but still very good to reach. We stopped by because of the very good reviews, and at the end we weren't disappointed. All in all a perfectly fine lunch!

Just be aware that they add a fee if you want to pay with credit cards. I can't remember how much the fee was, but it definitely stuck into my mind that it was way higher...
