HOTEL BLANCO TULUM — Hotel in Quintana Roo

The hotel is brand new, one of the staff told us they finished building around October 2019 and in November 2019 had the first guests. It shows, the hotel is in great condition! The rooms are very modern and sleek, the showers are great (hot water a guarantee (for those fellow travellers who have had similar experiences as us with hotels not having hot water)). The rooftop pool is not too big but more than pleasant enough for a swim and there are plenty of sunbeds. There are no breakfast facilities on site, but there is a massive supermarket across the road (Chedraui) where you can get bread, yoghurts and other things to store in the room fridge. The balcony is shaded by the trees in the courtyard which is nice. There is no on-site parking, however we managed to park our car in front of the hotel on all four days we stayed here. If it is full there is always the massive supermarket parking lot across the road to park. The reception staff is super friendly and all speak brilliant English, and they also understood our limited Spanish which was nice to practice. Overall our favourite place we stayed in over the past 2 weeks.

As said the hotel is new and looks fantastic, we really hope the owners decide to keep the property up and do maintainance regularly to keep the hotel in tip-top shape so there will be many highly rated reviews for...

El hotel en sí, no está mal, la atención por parte de recepción es muy correcta y servicial. Si bien es cierto al entrar en la habitación, en el lavamanos del baño había un pelo larguísimo, lo cuál no tuvimos en cuenta y ya está. Tiene piscina, lo cuál está sola casi siempre, y no sé si por eso la tienen más descuidada, pero se veía sucia, tanto el agua y la piscina, como las tumbonas para uno acostarse. No pasa nada, lo dejamos pasar. El problema viene con el desayuno que va incluido y te lo sirven en el restaurante que hay justo al lado. Llegas y en recepción te hacen firmar una hoja conforme vas a consumir el desayuno ese día, firmamos y nos Dan un papelito que entregamos al restaurante. En el restaurante te dan una hoja para que escojas uno de los desayunos que te ofrecen, escoges y ahí viene la tortura de esperar entre una hora u hora y media para que llegue tu plato! Alucinante, los desayunos tenían cero elaboración como para tardar ese tiempo, pensamos que había sido ese día puntual, pero era así siempre. Al día siguiente todas pedimos el mismo desayuno, ya que había sido el único que nos había gustado, nuestra sorpresa fué que no lo tenían disponible porque les faltaba el croissant, sin embargo la gente que no era del hotel y que iba al restaurante a desayunar por su cuenta, si que se les daba croissant, a pesar de habernos dicho que no tenían. Lo dejamos pasar y pedimos otra cosa. Al finalizar, después de una eternidad esperando, nos traen un papel con la cuenta del desayuno, que nos hacían firmar. Como no entendíamos le dijimos que porque nos traía la cuenta si el desayuno estaba incluido en nuestro pack, a lo que nos dice groseramente el camarero, que nos limitáramos a firmar y ya, que eso lo teníamos que firmar todos los días, indignadas por como nos estaba hablando, le decimos que el día anterior no habíamos firmado nada a lo que nos contesta que no lo habíamos hecho porque nos habíamos ido corriendo del restaurante ignorándolo y desobedeciendo las indicaciones que nos había dado desde un principio, cuando en ningún momento nos había dicho que teníamos que firmar nada ni nos fuimos corriendo de ningún sitio, surrealista todo. Aparte una vez firmamos y el chico nos dijo todas las barbaridades que se le iban ocurriendo, nos dejó con la palabra en la boca y se fué sin volvernos a mirar a la cara el resto del tiempo. Al día siguiente volvemos y nos vuelven a decir que el desayuno que queríamos no lo tenían porque no tenían croissants, pero nuevamente los que venían de fuera si que podían escoger la opción de croissant, porque ellos lo pagaban, pero hola? Nosotras teníamos el desayuno incluido, pero por tenerlo, el precio de la habitación era más elevado, por lo tanto nosotras también lo habíamos pagado, pero ellos decidieron que no teníamos ese derecho de escoger el que nos gustaba, solo por ser huéspedes del hotel. Recalco que el resto de días ya no volvimos, porque entre que eran unos incompetentes y groseros, no tenían el desayuno que queríamos y encima teníamos que esperar una hora y media por un desayuno que no nos gustaba, decidimos irnos a desayunar a otro lugar, aunque lo tuviéramos ya pagado todo. Sinceramente por ese detalle, no volveríamos a ese hotel, y es una pena porque no está mal, la ubicación es buena y el personal de...

They make a copy of your passport when you arrive... and then when you leave they don't give you back that copy.. even if you ask.

For security reasons I'm not comfortable with this... and I didn't see that posted on their website that they require this..or else I could have chosen another spot to stay like Airbnb.

Management posted that, "This is a status in all the hotels in Mexico, even when you travel from the USA or Europe"

BUT two other hotels I stayed at in Mexico, Cancun and Isla Mujeras, DID NOT do this..

Ever though this hotel was modern clean and very up to date with their cable TV with WiFi connections to YouTube and Hulu... I don't trust anyone especially outside of airport customs needing a COPY of my passport. And not returning it was even worse.

I prepaid for this hotel so they got their money already.. so they just need to SEE my passport to verify I'm the same person booking the reservation as to whom is at the front desk checking in. So No I don't believe ALL hotels are doing this in Mexico.
