Magic on a Plate
I genuinely don’t have the words. And I mean that. Words just… fall flat trying to describe what happens at Mera Tulum. This isn’t just a meal—it’s a sensory journey, a masterclass in intention, a downright spiritual experience.
Every. Single. Detail. Every grain of salt, every microgreen, every perfectly balanced sip—it’s all placed with a level of intention that borders on the mystical. The ingredients are the highest quality, but it’s not just that. It’s the way they’re woven together—the flavors, the textures. Crunchy, soft, smooth, rich, delicate—they’ve mastered them all, and somehow, they balance them perfectly in every single bite.
Calling the people here “chefs” or “baristas” is an insult. They’re magicians. Artists. Alchemists. I feel genuinely blessed to have even been in the presence of their creations—let alone actually tasting them.
If you go (and honestly, I hope you do), try showing up with an open heart and an open mind. Taste it slowly. See if you can actually feel the magic they’ve infused into each dish. Or just come hungry, enjoy the hell out of it, and let it blow your mind in whatever way you’re ready for. No pressure—just an invitation.
This place is not just about eating—it’s about witnessing, experiencing, and savoring the kind of bliss and magic that most people miss in their everyday rush.
If you have even a flicker of hesitation, let it go. Just go. Or don’t. But if you do… be ready to...

I had a deeply disappointing experience at Mera in Tulum during a friend’s birthday celebration. While the food was good, the service I received was unacceptable and offensive.
I shared a table with several friends and paid for exactly what I consumed. The waiter who served me questioned my payment, insinuating that I might have eaten more than I was paying for. He even threatened me, saying, “If you ate something more, your friends will have to pay for it.” This statement was not only humiliating but entirely unjustified.
Even after I paid my part and stayed a few more minutes with my friends, the same waiter continued to humiliate me. He pointed at me and loudly commented to another friend paying the bill, emphasizing what I had consumed as though there was an issue. This public insinuation that I underpaid was deeply offensive.
I had more than enough money to pay for anything I wanted to consume. If I wanted to, I could buy the entire restaurant. The issue here was not about money—it was about the prejudiced attitude of the waiter, who judged me based on my appearance, possibly my hair or my skin color. This discrimination was unacceptable.
It is inadmissible for a restaurant of this caliber to employ someone who treats customers this way. I own a retreat center here in Tulum, and I will make sure to share this experience with everyone I know. I sincerely hope the management takes appropriate measures to address this employee’s behavior and ensure no one else has to endure such mistreatment.
I will never return to Mera, and I will actively discourage others from visiting as well.

Beautifully designed -super open and modern. The staff, especially the chefs; cooks are amazing. Even though they were swamped with meal prep - they checked in and ensure you are comfy. I am an English speak but even so they were super super accommodating- and understanding.
CON: Sadly it was my waiter/server. He was beyond super inattentive- it was almost like I was a bother. (tall, slim without a beard). I glanced around but he was super attentive to the other patrons. Maybe it was me? Lol
After another staff pleasantly beckoned him to take my order, he never came back to follow up, check or do any further request(s). I had to call him multiple times to remind him for small request(s)- his annoyance was palpable. 😂
It really soured my short time here- I had breakfast and then just shuffled on out.
PROS: Irrespective of this, all the other waiters were friendly and the staff was nice. Also it was pet friendly and their is parking for scooters and...
