I stayed there 4 nights - because my roommates were so nice. We were like a family. If it hadn't been for this acquaintance, I would have left after the first night. Actually, I stayed there only because I didn't want to walk all the way back to the city centre and because it was cheap, only 100 Pesos / night.||||There was a rat in the kitchen, and 4 giant cockroaches assembled on the ceiling every evening. They didn't come in the dormitory. The two owners (father and son) are nice and helpful. But they do not care enough about this place. It looks really run down. There is only one table that almost falls apart. There are only 2 chairs. The kitchen is badly equipped, there is not enough of anything. We ate out of the pots because there were not enough plates (we were maximum 5 people; don't know how this might be if the hostel is ever full). ||||It is dirty. The toilet was cleaned by the owner when I said that it is disgusting and should be cleaned. He said the maid would clean the bathroom that same day but she never came (remember, I stayed 4 nights). The bed sheets were not smelly, but not in a very good condition. The mattress was not comfortable. When a car passed by, it felt as if he was directly in the dormitory. There are a lot of busses, it is a busy street in the evening. ||||There was no hostel safe, but I could let my laptop in the office, where it was put on a bed behind a cloison. The door of the office was mostly locked when there was nobody, but on one occasion, it was open and I had to ring to talk to the owners, they had just walked away leaving everything. There is always somebody around watching the entrance (more or less attentively). There are lockers, but in the other dormitory, and its door was closed. Safety - I would say 2/5.||||You can rent bicycles for 50 Pesos/day, and I even got a snorkeling gear for free.If you get a sunburn, there are aloe vera plants in the backyard.||||The only positive point is that it is cheap. You get what you pay for. If you pay only 2/3 of the normal price, it might...
Read moreI spent two nights at Posada El Hostelito with a friend. If you don't expect a 5 stars hotel (providing you are not paying for that) I think it is good value for money. Victor, his wife and his father are trustworthy, enjoyable people, always happy to help. It could be cleaner, but it's OK anyway, we were provided with clean sheets and towels. There are no big security features, as the lockers are small and not unbreakable, but overall it feels like a safe place, as Victor or somebody else for him is always around. ||It is conveniently located near Tulum downtown (5 mins walking) and the beach is few pesos far by taxi.||Perfect for easygoing people travelling...
