Tulum Social Pubcrawl — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

Bad experience. Bought ticket online 2 days in advance. The link to the location of the first bar in the confirmation PDF received by email was wrong; we ended up in the wrong bar. Staff there was clueless about any event that night. Looked for another place on the event website, which led us to a second bar. Wasn’t the right one either. During that time, tried many times on two different cellphones to reach the guy organizing the event, Ton, on FB Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram. No answer. At the second bar we ended up, a very nice staff member helped us and seemed to have a special contact number for the guy so we were able to reach him. He sent us the location where the group was. The coordinates he sent did not match the actual place of the hostel. We still managed to find it and the name of the hostel was totally unfamiliar to us (nowhere in the email, ticket or website). Ironically, it was right next to the restaurant where we had dinner. We ended up walking around Tulum for about an hour and a half. Was kind of angry but still willing to party. However, Ton had a hard time admitting that he had made a mistake putting the wrong link in the ticket. Did not want to allow us to have our 30 minutes of free drinks even though it was his fault if we were late. He said to us " but why didn’t you call me? " to which I replied that we had tried to do so about 10 times in the last hour with no answer. For the trouble, I asked for free tickets for some of my friends who hadn’t purchased theirs yet, and he declined. When he noticed that I was angry and left, he kind of agreed but at that point it was too late and he had totally killed my mood. Asked for a refund which I hope I will receive. We later learned that there was some kind of WhatsApp group in which the people who had purchased tickets were added, but we were never made aware of such a group in the whole booking process. Really sad because for the people who get there on time and find the place, it seems to be a great experience and Ton seems to be a really nice guy at times, he just wasn’t regarding our situation. I will nevertheless keep an okay memory of all this, my friends and I managed to have some fun while looking for the place and we compared it to an escape game with clues that strangely looked like the place that sends you mad in Asterix! I think my only regret is not having started my watch to put this walking...

I’ve been to a lot of pub crawls all over the world. This one would have been great except for two staff members who killed the vibe.

One was Irene. Once we decided to leave after the second bar, she literally followed our group across the street and was drunkenly and aggressively begging us to come back — we already paid and tipped and so it felt rude and uncomfortable. I literally had to tell her, “hey, it’s all good, please just let us leave”. Only after I threatened to do a bad review (which I really hate doing) she left us alone. Social awareness not quite there.

Second annoying staff was Ton. We had decided to head out, said good night, all good, and he immediately looked at me and said “but you guys only tipped $3!” People in our group had already tipped almost $50. It was a really weird way to end the night and definitely made me feel like he only cared about the guests as a way to make money than as a fun vibe.

The other hosts were all cool and did their best to keep a good vibe which is why I give 3 stars. But I did wanna single those two out as killing our vibe and leaving a bad taste in our mouths for the weirdly...

I recently booked the "Pub Crawl in Tulum" Airbnb experience. I was traveling alone so I decided to have my first night out with some people to connect with.

I have to say, it was an amazing night filled with fun, drinks, and new friends from all over the world. Our guides, Flo, Ton and Marie were knowledgeable and passionate about the local bar scene, taking us to some hidden gems that we wouldn't have found on our own.

The drinks were strong and delicious, and the atmosphere at each bar was lively and enjoyable. The games and challenges were hilarious and really ice breaking. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable night out in Tulum.
