We recently visited Walicho Tulum and had an enjoyable time overall. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a fun touch thanks to the table games scattered around — perfect for groups looking to hang out and unwind. The beer selection was decent, offering a good range of local and familiar options, and the service throughout was excellent: attentive, friendly, and genuinely warm.
However, when it came to the food, we felt it didn’t quite deliver on value for money. We ordered the parrillada, which looked very impressive when it arrived. The presentation was clearly a big focus, aiming to justify the higher price tag, but unfortunately, the substance didn’t fully match up. Some (business cost effective) meats like pork shoulder / chorizo / chicken would have added more volume and make it look more value for money.
That said, Walicho Tulum is still a lovely spot to spend time if you’re looking for a laid-back place to enjoy drinks with friends. The lively yet unpretentious vibe, combined with good service and a comfortable setting, makes it a nice choice for an evening out. Just be mindful of what you order if you’re expecting the food quantity to match the visual show...
Read moreBelieve it or not, this is my Tulum highlight! I should lead by saying that I’ve seen to Leo in 2016 and I now have seen it in 2025. This is not the same place! If you have heard of or love the old Tulum, then this place is for you! It’s a gem tucked away which instantly welcomes you and lets you feel like you’re not in just another tourist shop. Staff: top notch. Spoke very good English and we’re very competent. Food: omg, the real deal. There’s a big grill and you can have food cooked right in front of you if you like that. The setting: wonderful garden atmosphere. They have live music too, unfortunately, we were with the kids and couldn’t stay too long! And it wasn’t expensive like the joints on the strip. Coming here is what it felt like coming to Tulum 10 years ago. Strongly recommended! Oh, and they have toys for the kids just in case you have...
Read moreThis was our first disappointing food experience in our week long trip to Mexico. We went here because the reviews seemed great and it was close to our hotel. It took an hour for us to get our 2 dishes and for the price the portions were incredibly small and the food was nothing to write home about.additionally, while my fathers sandwich arrived on a typical plate (10 minutes before I got my food) but my veggie tacos arrived in a closed styrofoam container? When you pay $140 for 3 tiny tacos you would hope it at least comes on a plate… We paid $770 pesos for a small unfilling dinner and beers for two and it took ages. The waiter was quick and kind but there was obviously a problem in the kitchen, really odd. Quite disappointing and felt like we got ripped off. however the family seemed nice and the dog was lovely, maybe it was just...
