COMIDAS CASERAS TOÑITA — Restaurant in San Miguel de Cozumel

When I read the sign, which literally translates to "Homemade Foods Toñita", I didn't really believe or expect that the food would actually taste homemade. In my heart I figured it would be like any other restaurant that claims to be homemade, and have a home-like menu but taste like restaurant food. However, to my surprise, a good kind of surprise, the food was amazing!!! For the first time ever, I can actually say that it all taste like my wife (who I consider to be the best home-cook in the world along side my mom) was the one who cooked the meal. I just spent a week in Cozumel and this was my favorite restaurant! We ate there twice and I wish we could have eaten there more! The guacamole and pollo Mexicana were my favorite. The portions are a satisfying size and 5 of us had lunch for less than $8 US per person. The service was nice, maybe not great if you're in a huge hurry but I didn't think the wait for food to come out was unreasonably long. I will definitely be back next time...

Nice local food, away from touristy area, would like to give a 5 star buuuut they took SOOO long we never got served and had to ask for it to go or we'd miss the ferry, also the waitress charged us her tip included in the final price...
