We ordered a falafel sandwich and orange and carrot juice. The sandwich was good but the juice was coloured water. This wasn’t the worst of it. We sat across the lane to use a bench provided by the shop and the shop keeper disappeared. This is when a shop keeper next door and his mate became involved. The shop keeper next door asked where we were from etc then weirdly his mate walks over to take our sandwich wrappers we were going to discard. We were saying no no we’re ok. Then the next door shop keeper says it’s ok the man worked for the sandwich shop. Then the man restocks the napkins on the bench and go and sits down. I noticed they call back the server when a customer comes and once the customer was served the keeper goes again. When done I stand to discard the drink containers and the man blocked the bin and insists on taking the bottles. So I gave them to him. We turn to leave and the shop keeper next door demands we pay the man for his work. I was angry as I knew it was coming and tried to avoid the 1000th scam encountered in the city. I said he does not work for me. The shop keeper next door realised I was mad and backed off but it was another encounter where my trust for locals has been eroded and I suspect the sandwich shop owner is fully aware of the whole scam. So I’d suggest takeaway if you are close to your...
Read moreMy friend and I were walking in a small street towards Bacha coffee from Jelmma el-fnaa when we heard some Regge music and we came across this small hole in a wall shop being run by a single guy taking out orders of the customers one by one and people had formed a queue.
Being a chef myself, it's my dream to run a place like he had. 1 order at a time, I waited roughly for 10 mins and I promise you that it was the best 10 minutes I waited for.
He was organized, super-hygienic and most importantly serving some amazing sandwiches. The menu was very limited so please do not expect the menu to have a lot of items but I was really mindblown with what the guy was serving.
TOTALLY worth the price. I'll go...
Read moreWe found this little oases in the middle of the busy Souks, and let me tell you it did not disappoint. First of the vibes are nice and the service is good. They are not pushy and desperate like some of the other places seems. That personally makes me stressed. So that was refreshing. But THE FOOD, soo good and fresh. We got one with chicken and one with beef, and both were amazing. It is some of the best street food we’ve had in Medina. We also got at carrot/orange juice and a lemonade, but the juice was definitely best. We sat on the small benches they have on the street and it was just perfect. All in all such a good experience. We can not recommend it enough, and we are certainly...
