Tucked away in the bustling maze of the Marrakech Souks, Kui-Zin would have been easily missed. We were definitely lost 😂. But once found, it’s a hidden treasure. First impressions may not overwhelm as you climb the stairs to the rooftop, but the moment you step out into the open air, with a mezzanine overlooking the city and a raised section where the view expands... you know you’ve arrived somewhere special.
We visited for the 7pm all you can eat buffet (£15 each, drinks included) a bargain. The buffet offered a wide spread...soups, salads, tagines, and desserts. I couldn’t resist the beef and chicken tagine, which was simply mouthwatering... the beef, in particular, was tender and rich, while the chicken had a delicious balance of spices. But, if I’m being honest, it was the potatoes in the salad that stole the show for me. Whatever magic they put in those potatoes, I need the recipe... three helpings later, I can safely say they were a highlight. My companion opted for the vegetarian tagine and called it the best he’s ever had!!!
The food was laid out perfectly... making it easy to choose and enjoy without feeling rushed. Each dish had traditional flavours and spices. Add to this the ethereal backdrop of traditional music, played by a duo below us, the voice drifting up into the sky. I asked the waiter what they were singing about, love, of course! The whole experience felt like a love letter to Morocco, or maybe thats how i felt? .
The view, as the sun dipped below the city , was magical. The rooftops of Marrakech and the city, Kui-Zin gives you the perfect spot to soak it all in... The service was just right..attentive, friendly, and informative without being intrusive. They cleared our plates as we ate and answered my many questions with a smile.
Kui-Zin felt like a discovery, hidden in the heart of the Souks... You’ll see mainly tourists, particularly French visitors, as Marakesh is a hotspot.
If you want to experience that perfect moment when the sun kisses the rooftops, the music fills the air, and you’re surrounded by delicious food go at sunset. I'm...
Read moreIf you don't have a white face or can decide what you want to drink the moment your butt hits the chair, please never consider visiting this restaurant. The moment my friend and I sat down, the waiter came to ask us what we wanted to drink. Because we refused temporarily without thinking carefully, he immediately took away the menu with a cold face. After we started to help ourselves, I found that the food was a bit salty and needed a drink to go with it, so I asked for the menu again. The noble waiter immediately stared at me and said "no" clearly, and the reason was that he had asked us what we wanted to drink and we didn't make a proper choice at that time. I don't understand why just asking for a normal meal request would be treated so harshly and disgustingly. Although he finally brought the menu later, I was too angry about his response so I left the menu on the table and ignored it. He quickly took the menu away without saying a word when he passed by our table. No asking for order, no apology. I believe this is very rude no matter where in the world. In addition, although my friend and I went to the restaurant in person a day in advance to reserve a table for dinner at sunset the next day, the seat we were taken to the next day was still located at the easternmost table away from the sunset view, and the table legs were still shaking. We also noticed that the upper terrace and the better seats on the west side were all occupied by white faces. Also, the other tables were asked about the food quality and whether they had any other requests during their meal, but we two yellow faces were left out in the worst corner for the whole meal. We paid similar prices to others and I just wonder why we were...
Read moreWent here for final night (25th around 20:00) wanting to eat from there main menu. Went upstairs and was immediately shown the buffet and seated next to the musicians. Granted, we hadn't booked but the placement wasn't really suitable for a couple.
After a few tense moments of the loud music disrupting any conversation I could have had with my partner we were asked for drinks. I said we needed a moment longer and that changed the waiter's demeanour immediately. He stared at me as he left the table side and at that moment I knew I wanted to leave.
Once we stood up, I could see the greeter and waiters face turn to frowns. Staring at us as we walked past and they both said something quite loud in arabic - I could feel the tone was aggressive which went along with their faces.
Once downstairs, the (perhaps) manager was asking if anything was wrong but I just wanted to leave so I said all was fine - the damage was done. We went somewhere else, more quiet and modest.
I left feeling relieved I went with my gut. The food here is probably very nice as per other reviews but the interactions we had with the waiters within 5 minutes of being there was unacceptable. People should not behave aggressively to customers for this "give me a moment more to think" reason.
The waiters let the rest of the...
