We stumbled across this coffee shop one evening but unfortunately it was closed (it was around midnight to be fair). Thankfully, the next morning we were at Anne Franks house and this place is about a 5 minute walk away so went there for coffee first. I always trust a place that has a La Marzocco coffee machine.
It was easily the best coffee I had in Amsterdam and I tried about 8 or 9 different places. I would avoid their hot chocolate though, it isn't great. The barista, Michelle, takes so much pride and care in making coffee and it really shows.
They also sell an assortment of pastries, cookies, brownies, cakes, cold drinks and they offer free water. There are a variety of coffee beans they offer for sale too.
There are some really nice mugs, jugs and V60 sets on the shelves too. It turns out that these are handmade by the barista. I did buy one of these and they are really well made. They have a good weight to them and the quality of them is great. They would make a great gift because no two were the same.
I would say that if you are nearby it is well worth visiting but I would genuinely say it is worth the trip no...
Read moreA perfect fusion of cliche and independence in one room with a sidewalk bench in front of the storefront. Amazing location by the bridge over the canal (Gracht) ... Staff constantly on the move, lofi-style music, the smell of fresh coffee, a raw interior, stacked boxes of goods, creaking wooden floors, water dripping into a 100-year-unwashed sink, a bicycle and a ladder leaning against an unplastered wall, furniture and decorations probably from an Amsterdam flea market and ... outside in front of the cafe, a bench with a postcard-like view of the city, the street, the canal, houseboats, bicycles, tulips, exactly as it is stated in the tourist guide. I had a cappuccino and first-class croissant, actually now cappuccino is made differently, as they invented it in Italy. City roasted coffee silky milk foam without bubbles with latte art ... that's...
Read moreThe small girl you have working today is such an arrogant, repellent, and rude person who doesn't even have an idea of how to make a proper coffee. I asked her to repeat the coffee because she gave it to me with more foam than a badly poured beer, and she replied that I could also make it at home. If I spend 4 euros on a coffee, I want it to be done as it should be, not however she wants to make it. This happens when you let your neighbor's cousins or whoever she is work instead of people who have barista knowledge. I come to this place every weekend and always receive the right attention, but with this lady, it's not the first time. Now she's really annoyed me, so I'm wasting my time here to let...
