Ok, Tuesday lunchtime, 20 minutes wait to get in, and another 20 minutes for the sandwiches. Order using qr code. No tips necessary.
€60 for three sandwiches and drinks.
Cafe minimal chic decor. Seating is tight and cramped, bench and stool seating with small serving tables.
Drinks good about €6 each.
Sandwiches are presented very nicely.
The flavour is excellent for the first bite..... but as you eat more of it, you realise it's overkill.
The sandwiches are two inch thick brioche style soft bread toasted perfectly in butter. A slit is made in the middle to form a pocket and then fill with beef bulgogi or shrimp and sweetened egg in our case.
The meat comes heavily sauced and seasoned, which makes it taste great, but it is so heavy with sauce, mayo, butter, sugar, and salt that it comes across as too rich.
Imagine eating an amazing bowl of bolognese covered in melted cheese, but it was only the sauce and cheese and nothing else. This is what eating this sandwich is like.
It tastes amazing, but about halfway through, you realise it needs some contrast taste and texturally. Think about every good sandwich you have ever eaten, there is usually something that gives a textural or taste contrast.
I never eaten a sandwich that cried out so much for a piece of lettuce or a slice of cucumber. It needs some vegetables or something sharp like lemon to counter the oil in the sandwich.
They would be wise to serve a small side salad with the sandwiches but it's not an option here.
Finishing one whole sandwich is quite easy to do but you will regret it. All three of us left feeling a little nauseous from how rich the sandwich is.
My advice is to order one sandwich between two people.
Price wise it a little expensive for what it is, but it does genuinely taste good. It's just overly rich, which kills the experience for me.
Good food should not leave you feeling ill on the way home.
All three of us said it tasted good, but we would not go back.
It's definitely not worth more than a 20...
Read moreThis place is an absolute joke. The queue and waiting system are beyond shocking — completely unorganised, unfair, and honestly, insulting to paying customers.
First off, CHUN closes at 5 p.m. but lets you “stay” until 5:30. Sounds reasonable, right? Wrong. After waiting TWO HOURS to get in, we were told if our food wasn’t done by 5:30, we’d have to leave and eat outside. No warning beforehand — nothing. Just a “too bad, we’re closing” attitude after wasting half our day in their ridiculous line.
The queue itself is chaos. People were blatantly jumping ahead, and staff couldn’t care less. We literally had to tell other customers there was a queue because no one working there was managing it. Smaller groups that arrived way after us were constantly seated first, while we stood there watching table after table go in. Apparently, it’s too hard for the staff to push two tables together to make space for four people. Zero logic.
And don’t think finally getting inside is a relief — it’s just the next stage of disappointment. People who got in 25 minutes before us still didn’t have their food. Drinks took ages, food another 40 minutes after that. The whole thing is a complete shambles.
When we tried to explain how unhappy we were — after all this waiting — we were met with eye-rolls and, “Yeah well, we’re closed so not much I can do.” No apology. No empathy. Just a brush-off. Apparently, customer service doesn’t exist here.
Then comes the cherry on top: £45 for two sandwiches and two drinks. Are you kidding me? For what — something slightly better than a supermarket sandwich? Nothing about it was worth that price or that headache.
We came here because of TikTok like everyone else, thinking it would be something special. What a mistake. Overhyped, overpriced, and staffed by people who clearly couldn’t care less.
Save your time, your money, and your sanity. Two hours of waiting for mediocre food and attitude?...
Read moreTL;DR: Long lines, crowded and not that cozy atmosphere, expensive food, 1 sandwich was salty but kind of tasty, 1 was a bit flavorless, not worth the wait. If you're feeling bored & rich & curious, maybe try it once, and never again.
Longer review: I went here after seeing some ads because it looked extremely similar to Korea's eggdrop franchise. After seeing the owner's story, my thoughts were confirmed. They were inspired by a 'korean sandwich shop', this is an 'eggdrop' copycat settled in Amsterdam.
Now a copycat does not have to be bad, if they copy the formula well, but here's where things go wrong:
Price: Eggdrop - €2-5 euro. Chun - €13~€20. Queues: Eggdrop - nearly none. Chun - up to 1 hour queue Taste: Eggdrop - Buttery eggy greasy sweet full of flavor. Chun - Salty (a bit like someone decided to cook oversalted regular meat and chucked it on a sandwich) Set menus (food + drink): Eggdrop - €8 (includes drink + side dish). Chun - €30+
Now granted Korea is a different country, but even when adjusted to local pricing this is and remains an 'okay', but excessively overhyped and overpriced sandwich. I will say the staff was very friendly though.
So is it worth trying out once? Maybe, if you have an empty boring day and some money to waste. But even then, only once, and...
