Ciro Passami L'olio is an amazing find on a side street in the museum district of Amsterdam. But here's the secret for the best summer seating... Make sure you make reservations for outdoor seating or arrive prior to 5 p.m. The outdoor seating is reserved most nights (especially Friday Saturday and Sunday nights) for Ciro's best customers who request the special seats on along the sidewalk. We arrived tired from a Boston to Amsterdam Delta flight, and having walked along the canals, we were hungry and looking for some great food and a streetside seat. At 5:30 pm the friendly maitre'd was concerned that we wouldn't finish dinner by 7:30 pm, when the regular customers had requested the seat that we wanted.
Nonetheless they let us eat in a curbside booth but at 7:15 pm we were ushered inside to have our delicious tiramisu. They weren't being rude, and had let us know, but it demonstrated how outdoor seating is in demand by the regulars. The atmosphere is quaint and the food is amazing. The fish is fresh (they will actually bring it tableside to make sure your and the pasta is served to perfection. Desserts and wines are in abundance and extremely tasty. Ciro was one of our favorite finds in all of Holland. Having frequently travelled north to Friesland the epicurean choices are limited and to be honest... aren't that good. However, if you're in the museum district of Amsterdam and want an amazing Italian meal served by actual Italians, you can't be do much better than Ciro :) I give the food, service, prices and atmosphere...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe recently had an amazing dinner at Ciro Passami L'olio and I can't say enough good things about the experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcome, like we were regulars. The service was truly outstanding ā friendly, attentive, and always there when we needed something, without hovering. You could tell they genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time.
And the food? Absolutely delicious! Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor, from the handmade pasta to the perfectly cooked seafood. You could tell they use high-quality ingredients and put a lot of thought into every dish. Each plate was presented beautifully, too ā you could almost taste the love and care in every bite.
The restaurant itself had such a warm, cozy vibe. It was the kind of place where you could relax and enjoy great conversation, whether youāre there for a special occasion or just a casual night out. I left feeling completely satisfied and already looking forward to going back. If you're craving authentic Italian food with outstanding service, Ciro Passami L'olio is definitely the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was without any doubt the best Italian North of the Alps when I started going there three years ago.Whenever we are home, we went there once a week, hence my five star review, which I now (with a heavy heart) am forced to lower to one star.
Tonight, we were told it would be better if we left ā after at least 60 meals in this same place! Not because of our bad behaviour, but because this restaurant totally ignores its reservation system now. After our clearly āsurpriseā arrival, we were told we could wait in the bar down the street (seriously?) or leave. Wow.
So, Ciro Passimi del Olio, we have left ā for good. We wish you all the best, but given that you are losing loyal employees left and right and your food has been on a downhill slope for 6 months, we fear the writing is...
