Horrible customer service. I came in with my boyfriend and sat for 20 minutes waiting for a table to be free, and when one did open up the waitress gave 3 people that had literally just entered the restaurant the table instead of us. When her coworkers asked her what she was doing she said that three people should be seated with more priority than two. I don’t know a single restaurant in the world, where the order in which you come in doesn’t matter, and this experience was incredibly unpleasant, and we felt overlooked as customers. I’ve been visiting Singel 404 for over 10 years, and it’s always been a quiet breakfast spot where you could enjoy really good quality food in a lovely setting. On my most recent visit, I noticed that all the different styles of bread they once offered are now gone. The portion sizes have also been cut in half, while prices have nearly tripled. I understand the impact of inflation, but I have photos from my yearly visits, and the difference in both size and price is undeniable. Since 2002 this has been our favorite lunch place even though it was always quite difficult to get a table during lunch time as it is rather small. The last thing has not changed but their menu and especially the prices have. Their menu used to have a wide variety of sandwiches which has been drastically reduced and the wonderful ice cream-fruit smoothies also do not taste as nice as they used to. The worst thing are the prices though. 12-14 € for a sandwich! I know that everything has gotten more expensive but these prices are ridiculous. I will start looking for a different place to have lunch...
