Homophobic place with ironically a rainbow flag hanging next to it. The flag seems to belong to the shop next door though. We were there as a queer couple, and 3 guys were saying homophobic sexualised things about us multiple times loudly enough that we could hear. We reported it to the bar employee, who said that he could not do anything about that, as he did not hear it with his own ears. The fact that we were sharing that we felt unsafe at the bar and were assaulted as queer people was apparently not enough to take action. We confronted those guys in front of that employee, and one of them confirmed that they made those comments, and anticipated that those were "internal jokes that we were not supposed to hear". Even after hearing that the employee did not take any action with confronting those guests in their inappropriate behaviour, neither requesting them to leave. For me not even the incident with the three guys, but the response of the bar employee seemed the most outrageous. It is ridiculous that this is happening in Amsterdam in 2024 in a central place with the rainbow flag hanging next to it, and as two people, female assigned at birth, we simply cannot feel safe and our experience is being put to question by just...
Read moreWe went for the fondue night and it was an experience that I hope I would not have again. We asked the waitress to check our fondue since it didn't taste as a normal fondue would do. She came back and said that the kitchen said "Nothing is wrong, this is how it should taste( for us it was too salty and sour, something wrong with the proportions) And we do the fondue with beer, not wine, that is the reason for the saltiness and sourness" when I complained once again, cuz it was impossible to eat, I was dismissed by the personnel saying " well, you are the first person complaining. We have used the same recipe for years, and nobody has ever said anything bad". I guess they should, excuse themselves and take the complaint. The fact that nobody complained before doesn't mean that people loved your...
Read moreI used to come here every weekend, probably spent hundreds of euros in this pub as I love craftbeer. Not anymore. One day I was walking with my family including my 7 year old who was finishing her french fries. I decided to stop, grab a beer and show the place I used to go so many times to them.
We seated, I ordered 2 beers, and while we were already drinking another waiter came to our table and started screaming that my daughter was eating food from outside.
It was so rude that I wanted to just let the beers there and go away. Instead, I tired to be polite and I ordered fries from the house (they probably really need the money) and said to my frightened daughter that everything was all right.
We finished and left. There are plenty of pubs in Amsterdam that welcome children, so I will just find...
