Hayran Shoarma — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I got takeaway, was trying to find a place that did good chicken kebabs and this place had good review scores. I ordered 2 large chicken and 1 standard chicken kebabs, and a portion fries.

First of all when I got them home and opened them, I realised how tiny the standard kebabs were. It’s not a portion, it was suitable maybe for a 5yr old who’s not hungry. See attached photo.

Secondly there is literally nothing in the bread apart from weird bits of slightly dry meat. No sauce, no salad, nothing. Bizarre.

Thirdly, it’s not chicken, it was dark brown - like over fried minced beef.

Fourthly it cost just under €40. The small ones were €10, they’re worth about €5. It’s like slightly bigger than a taco.

I think this was one of the worst takeaways I’ve ever had. I’m baffled by how the reviews seem overall such a high score, but it seems like that’s from years ago. I would seriously avoid, this is...

I dined here on Thursday evening, the place wasn't very crowded neither empty.

There was a young lady behind the counter with "No smile" asking what I want to order. The most basic thing is to offer a menu, but she didn't. I picked up one randomly from a table.

Obviously all the names are either in Dutch or Turkish, so I didn't know what I am going to order. I opened Google maps and I just pointed out what I liked based on a photo.

The order was served in 15-20 min, I sat outside, and the same lady delivered the food for me. I paid upfront, but I didn't get a receipt, neither I was asked if I want a receipt.

The food was good to average. The portion was generous, but the cost was also higher than average. For the dish shown below and tea, I paid 18 euros in cash. Because they don't accept any international cards...

Just wanted to give a shout-out to this great Turkish restaurant! Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but after I had left the restaurant and was walking down the street, I heard someone call out to me. It was the waiter - I had dropped a 5 Euro bill under the table and they had run to catch up with me and make sure I got it back! A BIG thank you to Hayran for their wonderful food and their honesty! :) (Note: if you get the pide, as I did, just make sure you wait a minute for it to cool down - it comes out of the oven HOT!
