My friend and I passed by this restaurant and took a seat on a whim. When we were walked in we were greeted with a warm smile from the staff currently on shift yesterday. She was very sweet and welcoming. We asked if there were tables available and she said yes. We took a seat by the front window at first and the staff had told us that we were also allowed to sit upstairs where it's a little warmer. We ordered beers, curry and a udon. The serving possibly lacks that quintessential Japanese presentation, maybe it’s more westernised than it should (btw I’m never in fav of westernisation of food), but it’s surely tasty, no big deal then.
The service, another major pillar for any review, is effective, discrete and timely, what else could one ask for?
In conclusion Kagetsu is a cool alternative to other more familiar cuisines if you are strolling through west Amsterdam and wondering where to have a...
