This place was terrible and we are definitely not coming back. (Click to continue reading)

First of all, the service was truly awful. It took us forever for an employee to notice us waiting to be served. The woman (red hair) who served us rolled her eyes with everything. We asked for a jug of tap water as we are a big group and do not want to bother them every time we need to refill our probably 100ml cups. Everything was a hassle for them, absolutely nothing was done with basic politeness.

In addition, the food was awful. (1) As their food wasn’t cheap (€14 for a simple ham and cheese crepe) we were expecting at least good quality, tasty food. When my ham and cheese crepe came, it was completely burnt. There were 4 small pieces of bacon that were black on the sides on one half, and some burnt sprinkled cheese on the other. (2) Another person in my group got a strawberry and whipped creme crepe. When they got it, it had 4, unsliced strawberries ( that costed €2) and a small cup of whipped Creme (€1.50).

And the 50 cents for the toilet after ordering an 80 euro meal? I’m sure they will make an excuse as with other reviews that this is for charity. There is no connection to this logic. Since this should be free with the meal, this means we are the ones donating, not the restaurant. Give us somewhere to donate and supply a free toilet like even a cheap cafe offers.

As this is a business that is “striving for quality” this is really disappointing and won’t be coming back. It seems to be simply unmanaged with staff who have learned it’s okay to have a...

I CANNOT believe this place has so many negative reviews. I am a foodie and I absolutely loved it! My partner and I came here for breakfast before our visit to the Anne Frank house. We had a wonderful waitress. She was a young girl with dark hair and a ponytail and I’m so upset that I can’t remember her name, but she was amazing! I hadn’t transferred my money yet from US dollars to euros and I desperately had to use the toilet. She gave me money out of her own pocket to do so. I wanted to give her a USD and she wouldn’t take it. The food was outstanding by the way, my partner had the Pofferjes and I had the Dutch pancake with apples and cinnamon both were to die for! We loved this place so much we bought T-shirts that made us laugh because we go to the gym avidly and we thought everyone that we knew at the gym we get a laugh out of the t-shorts that said, “I love pancakes”. Furthermore, when we went to the Anne Frank house, it was freezing outside, so we went back into the pancake restaurant and asked if we could wait about a half hour until our turn came and they were more than happy to oblige. We got a couple of cappuccinos (they even gave my partner and I, a free Stroopwaffle on top Of the lovely picture they did on top of our cappuccinos) and the rest is history. TRUST ME , Go here! I’m a foodie and the service and the food...

I very almost decided to give this place a 5* rating however I just felt there were a few things that let this place down. First of all though the pancake we had was incredible. My boyfriend and I shared the Traditional Bacon & Apple Dutch Pancake and it was delicious, and is by far one of the best pancakes I have ever eaten! Inside the pancake were bits of apple and parts of the pancake were a little bit soggy but I can live with that. We visited Pancakes Amsterdam after going to the Anne Frank House as it is practically right outside and very convenient. Before we actually went into the Anne Frank House we got a coffee from Pancakes Amsterdam - I had a Espresso Macchiato and the coffee was lovely. After having a nice coffee beforehand we decided we would go back after the Anne Frank House to eat and I’m glad we did. The interior was nice but some of the seating I felt was a bit close together. My main issue was the friendliness of the staff... the waitress we had serving our table seemed disinterested and if I’m honest she didn’t seem enthusiastic to be there at all. I would definitely recommend the pancake we had (Traditional Bacon & Apple Dutch Pancake) and I would probably go back...
