Service was really good, which is a rare sight for Amsterdam! The cocktails were okay, but I am quite picky with my flavours and love having cocktails. If you just like a cocktails very now and again its fine but I won’t be returning for their drinks to be honest.
The nachos were really good - we had the Vondel. Our table had all the cocktails across the menu throughout our reservation slot and the best one in my opinion was the smoky Paloma.
We needed to reserve a table and we could hold the slot for 2 hours and then needed to move on for the next group. They were crazy busy and many people came with reservations.
Overall the place had a nice vibe but not enough for me to want to reserve, go for 2 hours and then leave but I personally don’t like jumping between places if I found a nice spot so maybe that’s just me.
Staff were really top notch and I could see going back for this ☝️
Overall a good experience and would recommend trying them out if they have space but not that special to stand in a que...

Parakeet is such a charming and welcoming spot. My friends and I chatted with the owners, who have loved Amsterdam for years and dreamed of moving here to open a restaurant. It is obvious they put a lot of heart into this place, which manages to be both uber hip and inviting. Also their dog Lucy is just the sweetest and is happy to welcome you at the door.
More importantly, the nachos are AWESOME. We tried the chili nachos and the pork nachos, and both were delicious. They told us they make the chips in house, and it shows. So much better than the typical Amsterdam nachos. We also loved the queso dip, which is hard to find here.
The cocktails were excellent too. I especially loved the coconut daiquiri, but the margarita was great as well. The prices were reasonable. They said the drink list is seasonal and I can't wait to try out the new drinks.
Parakeet is such a gem and I can't...
Read moreAs an American from the southwest (nacho capital of the world), I’m constantly let down by plates of ‘nachos’ that are no more than chips from a bag with a sprinkle of sad salsa and cheese. Parakeet’s mouth-watering nachos do it right: each bite has its own layered flavor profile, surprising my eager tastebuds with every chip. Copious toppings are perfectly layered and balanced throughout, side to side and top to bottom, so you rarely find a sad, bare chip. But even if you do, their homemade chips are so good that eating one solo sparks enough joy to make up for it. Highly recommended. In fact, do not waste your time with any other plate of so-called ‘nachos’ in this country because these guys far surpass anything and everything I’ve ever had here. The cheesy bean dip was also to die for, as were the incredible cocktails. Can’t wait for...
