Café De Ruif — Restaurant in Delft

A great spot to hang out in spring, summer and autumn, outside. Inside, very noisy. The quality of the dishes prepared varies from utterly bismal to excellent, sadly with nothing much in between. So hit or mis. It seems like it depends on the kitchen staff on duty, which it might be. I think some of the kitchen staff just cant be arsed to put in even the tiniest amount of effort to cook something properly and lack all interest in doing so, while others do put in a love of cooking and effort.

I've visited numerous times in the past few years, but won't be coming back again, unless for outdoor drinks only. It's the inconsistent quality level of the dishes and the uninterest in resolving that issue for good after complaints were made on several occasions, you see.

Very nice old looking cozy place. Food is delicious. We tried spareribs and steak, and both dishes were excellent. The location is wonderfull. Very close to main square. If you are lucky, you can sit next to the channel and enjoy the view of the old town. I was not very happy about the service, because our waitress was very sleepy, she asked what we had ordered, then came back and asked again, and haven't asked about the stage of cooking for my steak. I have been here before. It was barely ok. I decided to give it another try with a group of people. Mainly due to location. Big mistake. Bad service, unfriendly hosts. We were sitting as a group and got asked to leave twice, because we were not eating. Not true! One guy just ate and second wanted to order. But due to unfriendliness and such a bad service. We decided to leave all together. I get that you might wanna make profit from busy night. But act at least professional. Never. Coming....
