Part 1 - SERVICE: We went for breakfast today around 9:15 AM. What an attitude from the service! The blonde-haired girl gave us attitude, acting as if she were the king rather than the customer. It was a simple breakfast - Barista breakfast and pancakes and we were the only customers at that time. Unfortunately, it took ages to get our drinks and food. So, I politely asked how long the food would take because we were in a rush. This girl was on the phone, talking negatively about us, assuming that we wouldn't understand Dutch because we were speaking English to her. Later on, she asked her colleague N. to serve us because she didn't want to speak English with us and mentioned how exhausting it was. The service doesn't deserve any stars at all. If you want to talk negatively, please make sure your customers can't hear it. Just asking myself—Dear manager, seeing lots of service complaints here in the reviews, don't you want to do something about it?
Part 2 - FOOD: The Barista breakfast... the eggs were dry and tasteless, the half croissant was okay, the bread was dry, and there was only one tiny, thin slice of cheese - interesting. The pancakes, which seemed oven-baked, tasted like the ready-made ones from Albert Heijn, topped with some fruits - definitely not worth the money. You might as well go to AH; it's...
Read moreWe heard about Barista Café when looking for a breakfast place on Social Deal. The breakfast plate sounded very delicious and also a bit different from the usual places (I especially got excited about the cinnamon scone🤤)! We were served a beautiful ‘traditional breakfast’ (see picture). For me, especially the Greek yoghurt with granola and the cinnamon scone with cream turned this solid breakfast into a special one. All components were very delicious. I was also surprised to find out that they have a couple of interesting hot drink alternatives which is why I decided to go for a blue butterfly latte which had a warm subtle vanilla taste. Besides, whoever was responsible for the interior design did an amazing job! One feels super comfortable there with all the carefully chosen details like a huge colorful fresh bouquet, the oriental looking rugs, the brickstone wall or copper vases on the window sill. We will definitely come back to enjoy this cozy place and try another breakfast since they have many different ones to choose from, e.g pancakes or chia breakfast. The prices, especially compared to other cafés, are very fair (most options are priced at 7-8 euros), and - this might be interesting to some - their menu even offers detailed information on calories for milk alternatives such as...
Read moreWe came here a few times and the overall experience has kept going down in terms of food quality and service.
For sure the branch in Leiden is much better and more reliable.
Today I had to leave the chai latte there as it was completely tasteless.
Also, there was a hair in the cookie (all the waitresses have their hair loose).
The cheesecake was very dry on the outside and soggy at the bottom, proof that it had likely been there for quite some time.
This, along with the overall lacking service (long waiting time + careless and lazy attitude of the staff), convinced us that Barista in The Hague is no longer a good choice for brunch or a snack, unfortunately.
We'll still keep going to the one in Leiden, though.
On a side note, we were there for around half an hour and we were the third couple complaining about the service already.
I think better management would help; currently, it feels like no one...
