I recently visited De Pizzabakkerswith high expectations, but unfortunately, my experience fell short. Despite being hotel guests, our anticipation for a discount or complimentary drink was met with confirmation from the waiter. However, the service quickly took a downturn.
The wait for our 2 truffle pizzas was an agonizing 45 minutes, leaving us with an empty table. When the pizzas finally arrived, they were not only cold but also had an unexpected super-thin and hard crust. Attempting to cut it with a knife proved futile, and even trying to pick it up with our hands was a challenge.
The promised truffle flavor was nowhere to be found, replaced only by a meager spread of cream on top, a lone slice of ham, and an overall tasteless experience reminiscent of eating paper. The peculiar addition of boiled and sliced egg on the pizza was unconventional and failed to enhance the overall flavor.
To add to our disappointment, no discount or complimentary drink was provided as promised.
Given the exorbitant price, this subpar experience is definitively not worth it.
Overall, the lackluster taste, subpar service, and unfulfilled promises make it impossible for me to recommend De Pizzabakkers I won't be returning, and I caution others seeking a satisfying pizza experience to explore...

15-minute wait after being seated til I could get a menu, 35-minute wait before I could get an order in. I have called attention nicely a few times to order and was told by 3 different staff members that they would be with me shortly - they were commendably nice and polite, but none of them came back. Other guests who came after me, two couples and a group of five, were given relatively immediate attention as I looked and kept trying to hail the staff. When it was finally my turn to order, I inquired about the seasonal pizza, I was asked to wait again so they could double-check what it was - they ended up coming back to me after another 15 minutes. Customers around me were noticing my wait already and a Dutch-speaking couple seated beside me graciously offered to help by telling the staff in Dutch to not forget about the solo customer (amusing that there was an assumption that maybe that would help improve things.) Finally got to eat about an entire hour after ordering.
The alame al tartufo and prosecco frizzante were good, but not good enough to make up for the experience. If you are visiting solo, or hungry, or have something else to do/somewhere else to be after your meal, I suggest making some contingencies...
Read moreFirst, we waited about half an hour for our drinks and appetizers. They told us that our order got lost at the bar, but did not apologize or offer anything on the house to make up for the screwup. When we had finished the appetizers, they told us that our pizzas were coming right up, but we had to wait another half an hour. Again, no apologies or anything on the house to redeem themselves. The pizzas were quite plain and lacked a saltiness which is inherently Italian. The ingredients (tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella, ...) were of average quality and taste. The dough was the best part of the meal, but somehow they managed to overcook and burn it for one of us.
All in all a disappointing experience, especially since you're paying a rather high price for pizzas (+15 euros each), so you should expect the same high quality as in other, more genuine Italian restaurants...
