Tandoori Mahal — Restaurant in Ōtara-Papatoetoe

Everyone should be careful here. Second and last time here. Two month ago when I first time came here , I found out that the owner charged me an extra $2. $2 was not a big deal, but I remember what made me upset was when I asked the owner. , the lady being very rude and impatient, saying that she didn’t understand what I was saying, but finally refunded the two dollars after calculated. Today I went to this section again for dinner. Most restaurants were closed, so I had to go to this one again. This time service by another owner and I am the only customer , The strange thing is for only two meal, very easy to calculate，the owner charged an extra dollar. When I asked the owner, he said I upgraded something which I dont really understand, then he said I ordered Garlic naan, in fact I ordered regular naan, Then he said the extra dollor for paywave , but I didn't use paywave, and finally he give it back. Unfortunately，those two time experiences and the reaction and explanation of the shop owner made me suspect that they did it on purpose. As a shop owner as well , I hate people making money...

So I really don't like giving bad reviews. But I returned today after having tried their samosa chaat (which is delicious) twice earlier this week. But today in addition to the samosa chaat I also got the tandoori chicken noodles. While the samosa chaat was once again delicious the tandoori chicken noodles were definitely foul and seemed like it had gone off. I tried to tell the owner to remove it but he refused to believe it was off, and said it was made fresh today - which it definitely couldn't have been. He did return the money but still continued to serve it. So while samosa chaat is still one of the best I've had I dont think I can return to a place where food safety isn't taken seriously. Hope they sort out their priorities. The lady at the counter is lovely but the owner is downright rude and has poor...

Excellent place to get accused of lying. Simple jst don't go. Not worth the hassle with the poor customer service. A friends butter chicken smelled like rotten milk, was offered to choose another curry (happy with that) midway through eating own dish. A hair was found. Immediately stop and told staff. After waiting for abt 8minutes I approach another staff member. Immediately accused of planting hair there to get free food, really? (did not have time to waste was on lunch break) Second, was made fun of saying if I can prove it was their hair while laughing and simply didn't care while I was explaining saying I'm the owner of this place and the chef is right and there is nothing you can do abt it. Told co-workers, friends and family....
