Absolutely hated my experience here at the Pegasus Arms. The service was horrible and so was the food. We came to the Pegasus to have a good meal and drinks. We ended up with none of that. It was absolutely horrendous. We came in and were seated, given our menus. After a few minutes, we were all ready to order. But no one came to see how we were getting alone. Waitress after waitress hurried along past our table. My friend had to physically put his hand up to get the attention of someone to take our order. The majority of the table ordered the Roast Meal for $18.00, which they had on that day. After they had order it, they were informed that there was no Yorkshire Pudding left. Adding to this, there was no indication of this on their sign outside of the bar where they were advertising the meal. After we had ordered, the manager came by and said the kitchen was now able to make fresh Yorkshire Pudding and this would take up to 30 minutes. My friends were fine waiting. Let me add, this was approximately about 3pm. Half an hour had past, and we were waiting and waiting. At this point, it was getting absolutely ridiculous. No one had came to apologise to us or give us a status on our orders. I finally spoke up and a waitress went to go check. At this point, it was 3.30pm and our meals were "another 15" minutes away. We waited patiently and we didn't get our means until 3.55pm. Having said that, my friends' Roast meals were absolutely mediocre to say the least. The roast vegetables were completely raw. Do they not know the definition of 'Roast'?. The only good thing about the meal was the Yorkshire Pudding and the meat but having said that, waiting for almost an hour, our meals should of been absolutely spot on. My boyfriend and myself were fortunate enough not to have ordered the Roast meal but the meals we had ordered were not worth waiting an hour for. My friend complained and the response we had received was absolutely disgusting. The manager walked away as my friend was expressing his issues about the meal and he walked off in the middle of his sentence and later sent a waitress to come and deal with the situation. What kind of manager is that? I can't speak on behalf of my friends but my boyfriend and I should of been compensated for the amount of time we had to wait. The manager was not even apologetic. He didn't even deal with the situation himself. Anyway to say the least, if any of our friends ask us to recommend a place to eat and drink in Christchurch, we will most definitely not be recommending the Pegasus. We'll be telling them to stay far, far away...
Read moreMaybe it's because I've lived in the US for as long as I have, but I found the service at this dive to be absolutely abyssmal. I had two pints of beer (at $10.50, mind you) and when I asked for a third, the bar tender told me I looked too wobbly to have it. Before I could tell him that I'd then rather not have a beer and leave instead, he poored me the beer and told me it was the last I could have. I would've liked to refuse to pay for it and just walk out, however, as a guest in New Zealand I thought I'd better not cause any trouble. So, I paid for my third pint of Heineken. Then, there was a fight about to break out in the bar, I waved over the bar tender and told him that rather than telling me I was "too wobbly" he'd better pay attention to those two "gentlemen over there". The bar tender then proceded to tell me off, that if I had a problem I'd get kicked out. Of course then I left, having had enough of their foolishness. But I stayed long enough to see the same bartender go over and stop the fight that I'd just told him about. It seems to me that being a New Zealander involves a lot of drink. Perhaps that's why this bartender was so hopeless. Don't know. This all happened about 1/2 hour from writing this text. I recommend you avoid the place, based on the experience I had tonight. Now safely back at my hotel, I feel justified in writing this damning review of a poorly run place called the "pegasus Arms Restaurant", and that's before I got to try their food (which, if one may extrapolate, will...
Read moreStopped in for a quick beer and nibble while at the hospital. Staff were inviting and warm. Unfortunately the food was a bit of a let down for the price. Karaage chicken was $18.50 and as you can see in the pics, was only 4 pieces. States it is served with sriracha, fresh greens, and topped with sesame seeds. I don't think they should mention the fresh greens as the few leaves were more a garnish. There was also no sesame seeds. The chicken was definitely not karaage either. The added chips for $6 were crunchy and tasty. The cauliflower also read that it came with fresh greens and sesame seeds. Again, no sesame seeds, and the few strands of greens didn't justify having fresh greens as part of their description. Coating was crunchy and tasty, but the cauliflower inside was bland. We didn't think this was worth $18.50 either, unless you compare it to the chicken at 4 pieces for the same price. All and all, a good place to stop for a beer. $9.50 for a 12 of Heineken wasn't bad. A nice outdoor area. Wouldn't come back here for food based on what we...
