Absolutely loved this place! This dumpling bar was so good—I’m still thinking about the flavours. Everything we tried was packed with taste, perfectly cooked, and honestly just hit the spot in every way.

One of the best things about this place is how well the price matches the value. So often you go out and feel like you’re either overpaying for something average or getting quantity but not quality—but here, it’s the perfect balance. Super affordable, generous portions, and every bite felt worth it. It’s one of those rare gems where you feel genuinely satisfied, both flavour-wise and budget-wise.

The dumplings were the clear highlight, of course—flavourful, juicy, and made fresh. But it’s not just about the dumplings. The rest of the menu was surprisingly solid too. You can tell there’s care and attention put into every dish. Whether you’re popping in for a quick bite or a proper sit-down feed, this spot delivers.

Also, the vibe of the place just added to the experience. It’s laid-back and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and efficient, even when things got busy. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable and relaxed, like a local go-to rather than just a tourist stop.

If I’m ever in Wellington again, this is 100% the place I’ll be heading back to—not just for the dumplings, but for a good, hearty feed that doesn’t break the bank. Highly recommend to anyone looking for flavour, value, and a genuinely...

My partner and I ordered from Dumpling'd on New Years Eve and unfortunately had a terrible experience! We placed an order online which was meant to be ready at 7:45pm. My partner sat there waiting for half an hour, went up and asked where our order was and they said "sorry" and only just started making it then. We finally received our food at 8:30pm, my partner came back to the car to which we discovered our order was wrong. They had missed out a whole dish of crispy chicken and two drinks. My partner was annoyed at this point as our order was not only 45 minutes late, but also part of it was missing. He went back to the store and told them what was wrong, they gave him the crispy chicken and took out a box of dumplings they had given us in error (we ordered two boxes and they gave us three, instead of the chicken). He came back to the car again and turns out the box of dumplings they took back was actually my order, and the box of dumplings they left us with were someone else's and not any of the flavours I ordered. The dumplings were so dry, and the texture was awful. They weren't edible and we ended up throwing them out after all that. The soy sauce tasted awful as well. Overall a very bad experience and after spending $60 for a takeaway meal we definitely will not be back! Highly...

D is a small, attractive cafe-bar with an open kitchen plan and modern, minimalist decor on Boulcott Street. There was a steady stream of customers from 5pm onwards. The dumplings were good. The wonton noodles were not the usual ones as these were thicker and had a firmer bite. Similarly the thicker pastry-skins made the wontons more robust and 'dippable'. The greens were fresh and all the elements were well flavoured, piping hot, and came together nicely. Both dishes were great.

Service-wise, they were atad slow (it was not hectic at all during the entire time we were there) but we did not mind, and the older waitress forgot to hand out the sauce dishes to us. Table condiments include vinegar, soy sauce and chilli oil. The latter is absolutely bland (to suit local conditions no doubt), so you may need to bring some chilli powder yourself and add to your sauce-mix to spice things up to your liking!

They have a lunch menu and also happy-hour deals which seem to offer good value. The menu is smallish but that is a good thing as that should allow them to focus rather than be a "jack-of-all-trades". While there is room for improvement, overall they...

Naively assumed the food would be good based on the high google rating. Wandered in here and ordered the dumplings in sour soup and the korean sweet spicy sauce chicken. Dumplings were store bought and soup could not be called sour, in fact, it had zero flavour. We are used to being very impressed with the quality of Chinese food, this is the first bland Chinese food I have ever eaten. The fried chicken was coated in a thick artery clogging double fried batter and tossed in supermarket sweet chilli sauce. Most notably, the chicken came with complimentary "Blue Curaco sauce" this was the most shockingly disgusting culinary creation I have had the displeasure of experiencing. It was artfully(?) dotted around the plate's rim. This meant one had to be precise with their chopsticks to avoid this sickly sauce touching their chicken. Staff were also unfriendly and there was a sign offering a free fizzy drink in exchange for a five star review. Save your money and your heart! Go elsewhere.

Worst mistake ever to order from this restaurant. I ordered chicken and corn dumplings today and ended up getting pork. It' looked so much like chicken so I ended up eat 3 pieces of my 24 pieces. The taste was so different to chicken and this order received did not have corn in it. Eating pork is against my culture as m an indian and I am 34 and had never eaten pork my whole life and because of their stupid mistake, I have now ended up eating what I was not supposed to eat. I called them and informed them and the lady kept making excuses that it must be seafood instead of pork. I told them it's definitely a meat in there and they kept arguing. Definitely check your orders before making any orders as I now will regret going there for my entire life.
