Treehouse is a quirky little one-room open kitchen concept, and appears to be run by a chef and two staff on a Friday night. They seem unbothered by this and dishes and drinks are flying out to the largely elderly crowd. Live plants adorn the walls and provide cover, while the soft floor and surfaces absorb noise. It smells like rich food inside which is nice. The golden lighting is fairly dialed in, no dark corners. A short, wine heavy menu has a few items of great interest to me, I enjoyed the local Otago Negroni and the Paua (abalone) croquettes; both quite memorable. The bathrooms are spotless, always a good sign. I walked here so can't speak to parking but it seems minimal. A slightly off putting acidic regional natural wine was swiftly swapped out and the brief app and drink adventure came to a pleasant end. This neighborhood hideaway has promise and certainly deserves 5 stars in the current climate. I would happily return to Treehouse again with a party to eat the menu. Check it out when in Wanaka and decide for yourself. I would recommend a party of no more than four. The tourists seem to have not discovered the peculiar delights of Treehouse just yet.

I've only been here a couple of times, but the food has been fabulous each time. It's small plates so it's best to order a few different items and share so you can try all the wonderful flavors. A good place for drinks and appetizers/dessert too pre or post movie or show. Service was friendly, and the restaurant has warm lighting and isn’t too loud. Next time I'd really like to try the $49pp chefs choice dinner.

I was a little concerned at first because it became quite crowded and there is only the one chef in the kitchen but our food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was fantastic. The cod, asparagus and duck rilette were all very tasty. Definitely recommend eating here!

Treehouse was the perfect place to celebrate my 50th birthday in Wanaka. Manager Katie was super professional in the planning process as well as taking on the hosting duties during the event. She coordinated all aspects from the food menu & serving plan to the soundtrack & furniture arrangements. Dan behind the bar crafted a trio of special whiskey cocktails for the night. The chefs in the open kitchen went above & beyond creating delicious bites that just kept wowing the guests - two bruschettas, two tartates, two meats (venison & lamb) and the best arancini balls. The house-made special request stout cake was the perfect way to end the night. I highly recommend having an event...

Don't be fooled by the location - Treehouse is Wānaka's best kept dining secret (but shouldn't be)! We've enjoyed drinks & snacks on the deck in the evening sun, casual meals, and on Sunday with friends one of the nicest dinners in a long time. Perfect ambience - uncrowded, decor, lighting, quiet background music. Exceptional friendly service. Outstanding food - each taster plate was unique, beautifully presented, and so delicious we thought it couldnt be topped - until we got the next one. And plenty - 4 plates were more than 4 of us could eat. But dessert sounded so incredible we had to say yes. Good thing we did, it was wonderful. Treehouse is a Wānaka special....
