Itch Wine Bar — Restaurant in Taranaki

Really glad we found this classy wee wine bar, which instantly reminded me of my local, award-winning Noble Rot in Wellington. It has a good range of interesting, eclectic wines available by taste (1/3 of glass) and by glass, as well as bottle. Staff were knowledgeable, professional and efficient. I kicked with a champagne cocktail called French 75, made up of gin, lemon and Taittinger. We went for the tasting platter with two cheeses and two types of charcuterie, which was delicious and good value for money (the other option is 4 cheeses). Two nights in a row this place was closed A FULL HOUR before the posted closing time. The first night it wasn’t very busy, so that’s understandable. But the second night, the bar and outside courtyard were absolutely packed - the place was bumpin! I don’t know how they’re in business if they’re NEVER OPEN....

Nice decor ..walked in stood waiting for five minutes ..Staff member was discussing cheese with two well wined patrons ..No acknowledgement of my presence after five minutes so left ..The most important part of hospo is was ignored . Not like busy as there were only five people including me...
