Went here Monday early afternoon and have been before and loved it. We went to have a good burger and watch some NFL. Right away I asked for the game to be put on and one employee went to go do that for us.
Can’t say I will be rushing back anytime soon. There were three front of house staff working that I could see and I actually couldn’t tell you what they were getting paid for. We were brought water (and eventually glasses) by someone that told us to use the QR code on the table to order or go to the bar. Ordering off him (a server) simply was not an option.
I asked for a paper menu because I prefer not to read online. Apparently they were short on menus, so I had to go to the bar but wasn’t allowed to bring the menu to my table. I was fine with all of this, but I didn’t understand why there were servers on the floor if they were not there to serve the tables.
I ordered and was asked by the bartender what table number I was at (apologies I wasn’t given an induction or training on the floor plan when I arrived) and I wasn’t too sure but seemed to remember seeing the number 44 somewhere. The person at the bar repeated back “34” while pointing to our table and I said I wasn’t sure if it was 34 or 44, to which he said “oh yah, 44”.
I stood waiting at the bar for a solid eight minutes while one server took another group’s order, the second server was still trying to sort the NFL game I wanted on, and the third wanderer around aimlessly.
Finally, the person that took my initial order was done with the other order and asked how he could help me and I said “can I please get the beers I ordered?” He had clearly forgotten, which again, is understandable, but at this stage I was getting frustrated with the absolute lack of service.
Then it turned out he didn’t get the full drink order, so I had to reorder the second drink and pay for it separately.
After about 15 minutes (very fast) our food arrived by a robot (of course an actual human server wouldn’t bring it over) and the NFL was still not on any screen because the staff did not know what channel it was on (yes, we were asked to Google it) nor did they know how to operate the tv’s.
Wings used to be great, these were soggy and lukewarm. Burgers were cold and the onion was sliced so thin it actually felt like we had hair in our food. Way different from the Andy’s I’ve had in the past. The game came on the TV when we were halfway through our meal. Hooray!
Not one person working asked how our food was. A simple quality check goes a long way, but it’s clear service is not the focus of the staff at this venue.
There was a dirty bus bin of dishes on a server stand while we were there for an entire hour and every single person working walked by it multiple times. If they aren’t serving the tables, they aren’t running the food or quality checking the meals, and they aren’t clearing dirty dishes….what on earth are they doing there? And why do they need three people to do the work of one person?
Here’s my message to management: I go out (like most people) to eat for a social experience and enjoy the atmosphere of a restaurant or pub, which is generally created by the staff itself. Restaurants are struggling right now for staff, which is why these robot servers are being used, but there were three capable human beings working that made no effort to engage with us or create a positive dining experience.
If this is the future or hospitality in New Zealand, then we as guests are in for a rude awakening.
My two cents? Ditch the robots and train your staff. Human capital is gold and there’s a lot of untapped potential there. Everyone working was nice enough, but it’s unfair to employ good people in a service-focused industry and then provide them with zero tools and systems to do their job effectively.
The staff here basically get paid to do close to nothing…they’ve cracked it if you ask me.
I don’t need to discuss this further. I don’t want a voucher. I just want you to empower your staff with training. You’re better than this. You HAVE to be...
Read moreWent to go and write a review and saw another review around the same time with the same feedback as me.
Was really excited to try this and was really excited for my child to experience this. As our cheeseburgers arrived to the table I went to take a bite and there was a really strange smell as someone else mentioned also.
I actually couldn't eat it because of the smell and also the taste was off, not only did the mince taste old but I'm guessing you guys make your own blend and the ratio of fat to meat was completely off, there was so much fat.
I talked to the manager, seemed as though she didn't understand what I was saying and she didn't offer much assistance at all although she was polite. I watched as she relayed this information to the chefs- they literally laughed at this feedback. Incredibly unprofessional, not that I mentioned it but I am a qualified chef with over 10 years experience, I understand quality of food. Later on that evening my partner and I both felt sick, then the next day we were both displaying multiple symptoms of food poisoning. I felt really underwhelmed by the way the staff handled this issue and feedback and now to see there is other people saying the same thing makes me feel real assured it was not just me and also feel reassured that I should not of been laughed at for mentioning so. Appalling if you ask me. Will not be returning, I know everyone makes mistakes but this could of been resurected by staff and it...
Read moreThis is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been too, from service to food, it was an overall awful experience. We waited 35 minutes for our food, they gave us 2 of our items cold and 1 item that wasn't what we ordered, we got the food sent back to be remade and asked if we could be served what we ordered. 15 minutes later our burgers arrived, also cold and inedible and we left without eating any of it, you can only send your food back so many times right?. We decided we didn't want to make a scene and we would just pay, cut our losses and be on our way, but then we went to pay. When we ordered our food we asked for 12 of the $1 wings to which the waitress said was fine, however, the man at the till charged us $20 for 12 wings (keeping in mind we didn't even eat, because disgusting). When we explained this to him that he said we should have told our waitress because you can't order the $1 wings without 2 mains and we got 1 main and 1 kids meal, after explaining that we did tell our waitress that he turned around to us and said "Well no you didn't otherwise it will say here and it doesn't" The food was cold, awful and inedible. The service was some of the worst service I have received in a dining situation. And we left paying over $80 for 4 items of food that we waited 45 minutes for, we sent 3 items back and, didn't eat any of it while still getting overcharged and rude service.
NEVER GO HERE. Waste your time...
