Java Room — Restaurant in Waitematā

We had lunch The Java Room in Parnell following many months and several attempts to visit in the past. The owner escorted us through to restaurant through he kitchen as we had entered through the takeaway section and we were warmly welcomed and seated after looking around the beautiful indoor outdoor seating areas. The outside area has gorgeous views overlooking Parnell and at night with the fairy lighting, it would spectacular.

Following a recommendation from the chef of the Tour of Asia platter, we got to enjoy showcased entrees of satay chicken, corn fritters, lemongrass mussels, pork dim sum, crispy spring rolls and raw fish snapper.

For mains, we ordered the Nasi Goreng, Javinese Chicken Curry, Hot Ruby Prawns and Dragon Szechuan Chicken. All of the food was delicious and generously portioned and the requested spice level was exact! Our wait staff were the perfect hosts too. Highly recommended with...

Loved the venue, great service, sadly poor food quality I ordered the Sichuan pepper calamari ........ there was no Sichuan pepper at all yet I was told it was in the sauce, it was a nice Nanjing style sauce but no very distinctive Sichuan pepper in this dish at all, my wife ordered a vegetarian tom yum soup the vegetable quantity was very very low (like three pieces and one of tofu). I talked to the server/owner who got his wife the chef to come talk to us who told me the Sichuan pepper was in the sauce, this was not true at all, very nice sauce but not a Sichuan pepper but a Nanjing style sauce, I'm a chef and know my stuff so please don't try to make stuff up as you go.... be honest and truthful and say sorry we run out of Sichuan pepper or what ever...

I came here for my birthday and i was 30mins late due to no parking at all, had to park far to walk, so maybe come in earlier to find parking. As it gets very busy. I loved it, the outside was very beautiful i got a beautiful view of the sunset and the sky tower.We got the entree pretty quick and it was yummy. Sadly i did get my food last but i think it was worth it i got a fried rice (nasi goreng) woow, i loved it!! So nice and hot! The waiter and the kitchen people were soo nice n kind, and i even got a warm welcome from them which was so nice, and they all wished me happy birthday wen i came n left.
