Context: Family weekend away with our 3 year old.
Experience: check in was easy, room was clean and everything worked. Netflix and YouTube required our own passwords to use. Wifi worked fine. Couldn't find a plug for the bath in the bathroom but used the kitchen plug instead. Problem solved. Power outlets were pretty far from the bed for in bed phone users.
Checked out the "gym" it was a rowing machine, crosstrainer, and bike. The pool looked cool but I was hoping for a sauna.
Carpark seemed secure during the night but didn't seem so the next day due to the morning circumstances.
The fire alarm went off at 6am. Everyone had to leave their rooms and wait for the fire department to check everything. Heard one of the staff start to explain that someone set the alarm off but stopped mid sentence. I saw men working on the alarms and carpark gate the next morning which indicates to me that it was a fault with the alarm not someones fault. Went back to our rooms but because everyone was filing in and out it wasn't possible to go back to sleep.
The next morning something had been shoved under my car and a random bike left against my car.
If I was driving an expensive car I might have cared but it showed the $27 car park fee overnight wasn't justified by good security.
Good room but experience sucked. Waking up parents who are already sleep deprived because of a faulty fire alarm = massive fail. Expensive car parking which isn't secure = not good enough. $270 for a room with a queen bed, single bed, and parking make up...
Read moreI stayed for 2 nights in the studio room which was clean and well equipped. There is a small kitchen, king bed, wardrobe, desk and W/D in bathroom. The room is a good size for 1-2 persons for a short stay of a few nights. If staying longer I would suggest a larger room. The hotel had a small gym and a lap pool which I did not use during my visit. The staff was friendly and available for any questions or concerns. ||The only negatives of the room was the shower draining too slowly that the floor filled up some during showers. The kitchen could have used some dish soap and the freezer had ice trays that were stuck due to ice build up.||The location was very convenient and the neighborhood of Parnell is quiet and upscale looking with many choices for shopping and eateries. The Auckland Museum, Domain and Wintergardens are a walking distance to the hotel. You can catch a bus or train to move around the city which were all convenient. There is a dairy called the Wyvern Dairy not far which had some basic food staples/items however they were cash only at the time of my visit. Net Pharmacy is within walking distance. You can take public transportation but I decided to walk to the nearest Countdown for groceries. Lala Cafe which is up the block from the hotel has excellent coffee. There is also a Pita Pit not far for something quick and...
Read morePartying visitors are fairly common on Fri/Sat which can make it hard to sleep on those nights. The banging of doors for the rooms are unreasonably loud and disrupt sleep as people enter or exit their room. The reception staff were fabulous and went the extra mile, but various cleaners were very discontent with how their employer treated them and carried the tension into the rooms. I Down-graded my rating because the hotel cost me a full week of labour and long distance calls plus 1 year delay in receiving an important official cheque due to not bothering to contact me, or forwarding to the address I'd provided. The owner and reception had all my contacts and had contacted me on my email and text easily for the months I stayed there during Covid, after returning from overseas. It was clearly an official cheque from Treasury overseas and a nightmare to try and recover from government departments bogged down in Covid impacts and opposite time zones. Big consequences and all unnecessary with the smallest of care or bothering. It tipped my experience into feeling...
