Yummy Jianbing — Restaurant in Waitematā

One of the hole in the wall shops lining the Queen Street sidewalk across the road from Aotea Square. I've seen it a few times when waiting for Cha Time but usually just had food. I was fairly excited to try it since I wasn't sure what to expect. I went with the original one just to see what it's like. First thing is that it was piping hot when I got it so couldn't just dig into it. The jianbing was really nice. Layers of soft wrapper and then there was crispy bread on the inside. We were walking along and saw some one eating an interesting thing and found it was from here. So we decided to try... I got the sausage and the gf got the beef. Both were very good. Quite interesting I must say and really good too! I believe you can get one of these at the Gotham market in NYC, so when I return from this adventure, I'm gonna go there and get one to compare. A tiny little kiosk that delivers close to the legit jianbing experience, though the black bean sauce isn't quite there and the random bit of lettuce between the wonton skins is an odd touch. Egg is cooked on the outside for some reason, and it's an extra dollar to add another egg. Overall very expensive for what you're getting, but for those hankering after that wonderful jianbing breakfast experience, this is about as close as you're going to get...
