Perched on the second floor of Whitcoulls, this place is a hidden gem that exceeded all my expectations. Initially, I took it for granted, assuming it might be one of those places that doesn't stand out. How wrong I was! After my first visit, I can sincerely say that this cafĂ© surprised me with its quality and charm. I've tried their chai latte, hot chocolate, and flat white, and each one has been consistently well-crafted (nice flavors and impeccable preparation). I have to admit, I'm usually hesitant about food from the counter due to previous bad experiences elsewhere. However, The Annexe CafĂ© has changed my perspective. Their paninis are super yummy, complemented by a delightful salad, offering a perfectly balanced and satisfying brunch option. The price is another fantastic aspect of this cafĂ©. Priced around $14 for a panini and salad, I believe it delivers outstanding value for money. Try their chicken and bacon salad too. The quality of both the food and the drinks makes every dollar well spent. Since my first visit, this place has quickly become one of my favorite spots for brunch on Sundays. The cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and excellent food and drinks make it a place I look forward to visiting regularly. If you’re ever in Whitcoulls and looking for a delightful surprise, give The Annexe CafĂ© a try. It’s a really nice place that promises a wonderful dining experience.

I meet my elderly Auck friends here everytime they are staying in Wellington. They love the food & the ambience & that it's got a bus stop in both directions outside. I'm not such a fan of some of their food as some of it tastes & looks mass produced (like the custard square or the panini bread). Their carrot cake is nice. Last time I went there I had scrambled eggs with sour dough toast, with Salmon & avocado. The toast tasted like a cheap supermarket sourdough. Not impressed with how thinly it was sliced & that there was no butter to spread on the toast - probably why the eggs were placed straight on the toast? The eggs were brilliantly cooked & if you looked closely you could find a tiny sprinkling of parsley. The extras I got were Avo & Salmon. $5 Avo was firm & beautifully sliced. Two slices of salmon ($6) is what you get for the salmon as an extra. Great ambience, light, airy with an air of spaciousness about the cafe. Easy to find and very popular at lunchtime.

Friendly service, good variety of food, outstanding coffee and chocolate beverages, and best of all open on New year's Eve! The only thing we struggled with was the absence of a Tobasco (first cafe we've been to that doesn't have some form of hot sauce) and the presentation of the eggs Benedict was in such a way that made it extremely difficult to cut into and eat with cutlery (the knife wouldn't go through the extra crispy bacon and soggy sourdough bread). Some additional thought may be required here to improve this from a technical perspective (perhaps just need sharper knifes?) but flavour wise we enjoyed our food very much.

. (01/2018) A little cafe located on top floor of Whitcoulls. Easily accessible from inside the store. Well maintained and nicely operated. Good ambience and cozy atmosphere. Staff is friendly and cheerful. Fast service with a smile. Coffee at this place is awesome. Food is good too although not much choice for vegetarians and vegans. Great presentation. Table service. No outdoor seating is available. Nice place to take a break and enjoy some beverage with quick food. Good for quick bite, coffee or just dessert. Normally busy during lunch hours and in the evening. There is no dedicated parking area available although ample street parking can be found around the entrance. Good for groups and small celebrations. Enjoyed...
