I chose this place for the first time to take out friends from London to lunch. That was much due to that on Monday, most of the place that are good was closed. Nevertheles, the place was close and the Frenchs classics with modern twist on the menu looked good. The place looks great - cosy and inviting - so the atmosphere alone makes you want to come back. However, I wouldn’t recommend coming back either that for a glass of wine in nice surroundings. The food is really disappointing. You would think that nothing can possibility go wrong with the chicken - that until you taste the chicken confit at Frenchie. The chicken and lentils ragou were blunt, the small piece of dry chicken tasted like it has been defrosted and then cooked, lentils appeared to be straight of the supermarket box and it all swam in tasteless juices. There were no salt and pepper on any table either.
I think it is really important to let the kitchen know what was wrong with the food - so I did. I was offered to try something else, but honestly I didn’t want to be disappointed the second time. I settled for the cherry cake and coffee - nothing can go wrong, right? And the cake was good. But the coffee - which I got on the house as compensation for blunt main course - was stale. To be fair, the food wasn’t so bad that you couldn’t eat it in a time of great need. But if you want to actually enjoy the taste of good food, then chose some other place to...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful restaurant, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with elegant decor and a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance. The restaurant’s location is excellent(Solli plass), making it a perfect spot for both a special occasion and a casual night out.
The food was absolutely outstanding. We started with the Løyromtaco, which was a delightful combination of fresh flavors and delicate textures. The Pannestekt Torsk was perfectly cooked, with a crispy exterior and tender, flaky fish inside. The highlight of the meal was the Steak Frites, a beautifully prepared cut of beef that was incredibly juicy and full of flavor. Every dish was executed to perfection, showcasing high-quality ingredients and great attention to detail.
The drink selection was impressive, and what truly elevated the experience was the exceptional service from Lydia. Her wine recommendations were spot on, perfectly complementing each course and enhancing the overall dining experience. She was knowledgeable, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout the evening.
Overall, this was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. The combination of excellent food, a great atmosphere, and top-tier service made it truly special. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an outstanding meal with...
Read moreThe food was good, but for the price the value wasn’t there. Small portions for a really high price, especially compared to other restaurants. I’d much rather go to Brasserie Blanche for a good steak frites, with bigger portions and better chefs.
What really ruined the mood was the lack of attention, our plates sat there empty for over 30 minutes before anyone came to clean up, nobody asked how our food was during the meal and nobody asked us if we wanted more drinks. They also ID’d us two times, which just seems inattentive to me.
When i go here with my family the service is usually great, although quite slow, it’s much better than when i’m with my friends. It’s a reality of dining out in Oslo while young - people just don’t take you seriously, to the point where you don’t really want to spend more money and feel more like leaving.
I’m willing to try again, but when dining out and planning on spending money, it’s just not a good feeling being overseen and just not being paid...
