Hakone, from the very first time Iâve been there I knew it had something special. As an Italian moved to oslo, for a long time I've struggled to find a coffee place that truly brings me back homeâŠuntil I found this wonderful cafe right next my workplace. The first thing that hit me was the coffee. After trying many places that either over roasted the beans, with too high brewing temperature or served really watery espresso, Hakone was a breath of fresh air. Their cappuccino is spot-onâperfectly frothy foam, rich espresso, and smooth, flavorful beans. Every sip takes me straight back to Italy. And donât even get me started on the pastries that they have. Their pistachio croissant is absolutely out of this world. It's always fresh, perfectly flaky, and the pistachio filling is the perfect balance of creamy and nutty. I swear, it blows my mind every time. But what truly sets Hakone apart is the staff. They are the definition of hospitality, always smiling, kind, respectful and so efficient. Itâs so clear that they put a lot of effort into every cup of coffee, every pastry, and their service. Itâs not just about the coffee here; itâs about the whole experience, and Hakone nails it every time. If you're looking for a genuine coffee experience in Oslo, Hakone is the place to go. This cafĂ© truly...

The name itself is a nod to the famous Japanese city known for its hot springs and stunning Mount Fuji views â a hint at the relaxing experience that awaits inside. They pride themselves on featuring high-quality beans from over ten renowned roasters. I am not such an expert, just a coffee enthusiast, so I did not double checked. But I can attest that my cup was excellent.
The atmosphere is where Hakone truly shines. The cozy seating area, complete with lush plants, encourages you to slow down and unwind, even if the space itself is compact. The pastries are more standard fare, but the coffee is definitely the star. If you're looking for a unique, calming café experience in the heart of the city, Hakone is worth a visit. Be prepared to potentially wait for a table, but trust me, it's worth...
Read moreThe atmosphere and the café itself are really nice, the pastries taste really good as well. I am, however, disappointed by the customer service: I ordered a macha latte and I was told that I would have to wait a few minutes for it, to which of course I said that it was fine. AN HOUR passed and my latte was still nowhere to be seen, so I asked the barista and she told me that they had a problem and that I would have to wait some more, but no one cared to warn me about it before I spontaneously went and asked. After another half hour of waiting (which makes it an hour and a half in total) I really had to leave and I told them as much, I was promised a refund for my latte which I really hope will arrive soon. I really don't think it's acceptable to keep a customer waiting an hour and a half without warning them that you have a problem and only mention it when they come up to...
