They just won another award, so there is a big hype and as guests at the lovely Hotel Amerikalinjin (where the bar is located) we were very keen to try it. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. We arrived and waited accordingly at the 'please wait to be seated sign'. 10 minutes later and we were still standing, waiting in the middle of the bar despite there being many empty seats. We tried several times to catch the Bartenders eyes but there was no acknowledgement of us waiting. The lovely hotel staff also saw us waiting (the bar is just off the lobby/check in area) and tried to help but to no avail, they too were also dismissed by the bartenders. While we were waiting two other seated guests who had been trying to order for a long time left visibly annoyed. Eventually one of the bartenders, Daniel, came over to us. When we mentioned that we didn't feel great being left standing in the middle of the room for such a long time without any acknowledgement he was extremely rude and snapped at us. The arrogance was unseemly and we were a bit shocked at how we were spoken to. We left the bar immediately and tried to speak with the bar manager. As he was abroad we passed on our feedback to the very friendly hotel staff who sincerely apologized even though they have very little say at what happens at Pier 42. They were extremely courteous and professional and recommended two alternative cocktail bars for us, Svanen & Himkok. We tried both and had a wonderful time. Extremely friendly, humble and welcoming staff alongside delicious and award-winning cocktails. Try these places instead, we fear the awards have gone to the heads of the...

Our second visit to Oslo and this bar, and they continue to prove why they're award winning. The service is impeccable with a staff who is very knowledgeable about the intricacies of the menu and super in tune with patrons.
This bar has a very cool way of crafting drinks as an ode to the relationship between Norway and the United States. It's a beautiful science of all of the senses.
We had every specialty drink on the menu (except the one with the gold coin). Some places have a hard time executing on really great drinks, service, AND ambiance... this place does it all with excellence. The drinks are high quality, intentional, and amazing. The food (we had the sliders) also caught us off guard with how good it was.
From our seats at the bar, George was an incredible bartender! We're so excited to see how the menu continues to transform with the seasons, offering new and exciting cocktails. We will absolutely be back and recommend Pier 42 to...
Read moreI like to visit this bar whenever I can. The location is very nice. Their huge windows are connecting the life in the street with inside. Watching the trams and people passing by while enjoying the beautiful interior design is just what I need when I taste these unique cocktails. The service is always excellent. The cocktails are well thought and designed to appeal to all senses. I love reading / listening the story behind the cocktails. Recently I tried their The Met cocktail from their Contrasts menu. It was an experience on its own. My friends tasted Manhattan Henge and Oslo Opera House. Manhattan Henge was the weakest among the 4 we had. Thanks to every single person in the team of Pier 42, you make each visit a very pleasant...
