Disappointing Experience at Størhus
The visit to Størhus in Tromsø today was thoroughly disappointing. The establishment's poor service and customer experience management left much to be desired.
Service Issues: The most frustrating aspect was the chaotic ordering system. We waited approximately 15 minutes just to place our order, with no queue management system in place. This created confusion and unfairness as there was no way to determine who arrived first.
Quality Concerns: While we ordered several beverages including cappuccino, the quality was subpar. The hot beverages weren't served at appropriate temperatures, significantly impacting the overall experience.
Customer Unfriendliness: What was particularly disappointing was their rigid and unwelcoming attitude towards children. Despite ordering coffee, they refused to provide the customary chocolate accompaniments for our children - neither complimentarily nor for purchase. This lack of flexibility and customer-oriented service, especially during the Christmas season, was particularly off-putting.
Value for Money: Looking at our bill of 1,651 NOK for drinks, including cappuccinos, gin, wine, and margaritas, the poor service and inflexible attitude made this seem like poor value for money.
Would not recommend or return to this establishment. There are surely better alternatives in Tromsø for both service and atmosphere, especially when dining...
Read moreComing from NYC, land of pizza, hot hotdogs and halal, I tend not to eat anything from these 3 categories while traveling overseas. But this place was nearby, I was craving some carbs and I saw there was reindeer pizza on the menu, which is how I justified to myself this was local cuisine lol (the same rationale was applied to the fantastic hotdog joint Raketten in town). So glad I went to Størhus! I ordered takeout and the moment the box landed in my hands I already knew it was going to be good. The pizza dough was excellent, crust was soft and chewy. I do prefer a more charred crust and bottom, but everything was well baked. I didn’t realize there was some sweet potato puree on this pizza and it really worked. Flavor and texture-wise, the reindeer, cheese, spinach, walnuts and yam all worked together. Although advertised as a personal pizza, I could definitely see this being shared with 1 other person (12” pie); I had 3 slices each for lunch & dinner and had another 2 slices for leftover breakfast. Highly recommend this gourmet...

My partner and I (both Asian, specifically Chinese ethnicity) visited to grab lunch on 20/12/2024, and were seated at the bar next to the payment register. It was very busy so we didn't mind.
Orders - The waitress did not entertain us and took others' first. She seemed unhappy/nonchalant when serving us.
Food - The Pizza Nord was a hit and miss, I liked it but my partner felt it was too strong.
Payment - Considering we were seated next to the register, we thought it would be quick for us to pay. The waitresses and waiter at the time were busy talking amongst themselves and eating chocolate (!), and gestured us to wait so we did. However, when a non-Asian customer came up to pay, they were immediately all smiles and were instantly eager to help.
Even when taking our payment, they seemed nonchalant/uninterested in...
