Don't know who wrote all the good reviews, but they are completely misleading - avoid this place if you can!
My kids were tired and hungry after our trip back from Machu Picchu to Cusco, so I went to the closest place to our hotel to order take-away seeing it has 4.8 stars. Can't imagine how they got such a high score with more than 100 reviews if they had no imagination about the 'service' at all.
I ordered a Trout Salad, Fetuccini (for kids, without meat), Incas Corn Soup and Alpaca fusion. Only after that, I was told that they don't have Alpaca today and it is replaced with the beef. I decided to keep the meal selection and was told it will take 15 minutes to prepare. I was the only visitor in this restaurant that day, by the way.
After I placed my order, the lady who took it, left to the kitchen (I guess to help cooking). I went to the supermarket to buy some wine, but when I returned in 15 minutes, nothing was ready. The lady looked out from the kitchen (as they have a bell, when you enter), saw that it was me, said nothing and went back. Since my phone didn't have a good signal in this 'half-basement' I went in and out several times causing the bell to ring, but she never looked out anymore: I wonder what if this was someone else? zero-attention.
After 30-minutes the food was not ready, and even after 45... and no-one came out to me to tell that there is a delay and how long should I wait. There was a TV shouting with some mexican soap-opera, so I couldn't even try to call them to ask what is going on, as they wouldn't hear me.
Only 1 hour after I placed an order the lady appeared and said that they couldn't make a soup today. I wonder, if they learned it only then or were they trying to make it unsuccessfully during the whole hour? Obviously, it was too late to offer me a replacement. All this was told me without any remorse and I was given a slight discount for 1 hour waiting only because at the very same moment my wife appeared shouting that the kids are too tired now to eat anything.
When I tried to pay with my card, the terminal couldn't get any network connection, so after 5-minutes of trying I offered to pay in cash: luckily I had soles with me which I changed a few hours ago just in case - usually I never carry cash anywhere. But! it turned out they can't give me change and this lady had to send her daughter somewhere to get it, which took at least 5 more minutes.
Of course with all these delays, the food was cold when we tried to eat it in our hotel. Otherwise, I could say that the quality of the food was average or even worse: the trout in my wife's trout salad smelled like a river - I guess it is the only component of the salad that you can spoil; and the quinoa quiche from my 'alpaca' fusion was extremely sweet and I didn't notice any wine sauce on the mushrooms, the grilled beef was ok, but as I said - too cold to enjoy. I will not rate the pasta my children ate as I didn't try it, but they didn't finish the portion as they were more tired than hungry already, so we had to throw half of it to the trash bin. Otherwise, while sitting and waiting for my order in the restaurant I heard several times the microwave was turned on in the kitchen, so I think my quiche was previously frozen...
I understand that quality food needs time to prepare, but there was neither nothing exquisite that could explain such a long preparation time, nor anything that would at least make it worth waiting. Combined with the non-existent service this puts this restaurant to the very bottom of my list not only during my 3 week trip around Latin America, but probably in my whole...
Read moreWe read some good reviews on Google so thought we would try it. The street is almost completely empty and inside is very simple with only 4 small tables so we weren’t sure what to expect. Wow! The food was superb! First they brought out a complementary little trout ceviche starter. Then the mains came which were delicious and beautifully presented. We had beef tenderloin with blueberry sauce served with fettuccini with a creamy cheese sauce, chicken with what was said to be a Thai sauce but seemed to be one of the best sweet and sour sauces I have ever had & beef saltado which was also excellent. Afterwards we each got a small complementary dessert- a sliver of cheesecake with a spoon of ice cream on top. This place is a little away from the main square but definitely...
Read moreI don’t mind supporting local business. But the lack of efficiency and the ridiculously long wait for order are just not okay. There is not ventilation in the small shop so the smell from cooking bothered not just us but our next table guests too. Several times we had to walk out to breathe. We ordered one soup and one Lomo saltado. It took one whole hour to get our food which caused us to barely enjoy the food as we had to rush to our bus terminal. She also helped us to ordered a taxi to the terminal. When we wanted to cancel and take Uber, she said she cannot cancel. But when we paid (we literally had to just put the bills on the table and dashed out), she didn’t say anything about the taxi...
