I associate Shangri-la's Shang Palace with my childhood, I've seen it change in the past 20 years, and the food is always good. Sadly, the food quality isn't as great as it once was, but it's still one of the better Chinese places around the metro—though I'd say I actually prefer Bellevue's Phoenix Court and Peking Garden to be better than Shang palace now-a-days. I still consider Shang Palace delicious, but over-all the place has deteriorated.

I was recently disappointed by the service because they were so slow! We were STARVING. We got there at around 12:15 and only got out food at around 1:20! I asked for water and tea and none arrived! I asked for water again when the dimsum arrived and I was halfway through my food, but still No Water! A very basic thing such as water, one that is supposed to be filled when it's already half-way wasn't even in our table yet! I was so thirsty. I decided to stand up and look for the water myself. It wasn't even that full in the restaurant. This was something we would've never seen in the early 2000s and late 90s! Always such top notch service, but it was just so disappointing this time around.

This was from an old review I did on them and when I last visited a few weeks back, I stand by my...

Location was excellent. Walking distance from the mall, so if you would like to go shopping after a meal it’s convenient. It’s a buffet but they bring the food to you unlike regular buffet places. Which I think saves them food cost and food waste that I agree. Food was good but it’s taking a very long time from the time you order and when it’s brought to your table. My recommendation is to order ahead so you’re not waiting for a long time. When we asked how many servings per plate since there are 13 of us. The server said two to three orders should be sufficient. As you can see from the photos it is a small serving. So it is not enough. I love a private dinning room if you have a big party. However, when they close the door you have to wait for the server to come back if you need anything else. Is it worth over 2k per person to dine? I don’t think so especially from traveling in different countries and experiencing buffet at other hotels. Ambience was impeccable and so is the cleanliness. Restroom is clean but very small for such a big hotel. Valley parking...

Had our Christmas Eve dinner here. Arrived promptly at 6:30 and availed of their set menu for Christmas dinner. However, first course arrived 45 minutes later. Last course was served at around 9pm. Didn't even bother to wait for the dessert because we had to catch the mass later that evening. This was about the longest dinner we've had and it was unfortunate that it appears other diners that night had the same problem as ours. Shangri-La usually has high standards and always met or even exceeded our expectations in the past. I don't know what happened this time around. I understand that the holiday season is a busy time especially for restaurants but Shang Palace obviously was not ready this Christmas. Food was good as always but the inordinate delay in serving them ruined the...

Great food! After a miserable experience at a Chinese restaurant of another hotel, Shang Palace at Makati Shang delivers. The sweet and sour pork is one of the best we’ve tasted. The pork is crunchy amidst the perfectly well-balanced sauce—tangy, sweet, savory. The surprise is the crunch provided by the pecans! It was not on the menu but I ordered salt and pepper fried tofu and it was spot on. I liked the big square cuts of the tofu and the hint of spice. The yang chow fried rice was exceptional too. Rice was soft, not too oily and perfect amount of meat and veggies. We also ordered the steamed lapu lapu which was fantastic. The fish was flaky and tender and the soy sauce was elegant in its simplicity. I think we’re coming back for more!

I was pleasantly surprised by the speedy service and the overall quality of the food. The prices were fair, especially considering it's a hotel restaurant. I found the seating to be clean and comfortable, though it did feel a little old. For portion sizes, the soup is a generous serving for one person, and the fried rice could easily be shared by two to three adults. However, the three-combination platter was a real disappointment. The roast pork lacked the crispy skin I was hoping for, and the char siu was far too fatty. The only redeeming part of the platter was the roast duck, which was just okay.
