The Sicilian Roast looks like an outdated cosmopolitan italian restaurant - outdated coz the interiors arer that of a modern Bistro from the 90s.
I gave this spot a 2nd chance as i was not exactly delighted with my first - I had an issue with the Sea Bass coz it didn't taste anything like the sea bass Im accustomed to, only to find out days later that there was such a thing as Palawan Sea Bass which has a totally different flavor and texture than that of the more popular Chilean breed.
Anyway, this time i tried the Involtini di Carne, which is basically a Beef Roulade. I found it a bit dry. The glazed eggplant and tomato side dish helped liven up the dish and the touch of orange made it quite interesting. However, it failed to bring out that bouquet flavors expected of Italian dishes. Maybe it has to do with the scarcity of cheese. The provolone was either too subtle or non existent and even the parmigiano on my tomato soup was sprinkled too sparingly. Wish you had just stuffed the balls with mozzarella and tomato.
I think a 17 dollar price tag is quite unreasonable for what i just had and yes I deserve more cheese for what I paid for. Im still giving stars coz the bar tender and waiters were friendly.
There are so many interesting Italian Reataurants in Manila. I just hope you guys can re...
Read moreVisited on Valentine’s Day—not originally planned, but we took over a friend's reservation who couldn't make it. We didn't know the reservation came with the Valentine's set menu. While the food was great, we felt the menu could have offered more considering the premium price.
We asked if we could just order a la carte, but the waitress said they were only serving the Valentine's menu that night. However, we later noticed the tables beside us were getting a la carte dishes—which was confusing. We were also told food would take over 30 minutes to prepare, which may explain the restriction, but it wasn’t consistently applied.
Unfortunately, service was another letdown. Waitstaff weren’t very attentive unless they seemed to "favor" certain tables. We saw one table repeatedly calling for service, while another had their wine constantly refilled—even though the waiter later confirmed it wasn't unlimited. The inconsistency in attention and service really stood out.
Overall, food was good, but the experience could've been much better with more transparency and consistent service. A simple service button or bell at the table would really help improve...
Read moreWe have been passing this restaurant for months now and decided to give it a try (since we've pretty much tried all the other restaurants beside them (Tatatitos, Hiro Yakiniku, Gringos).
We came in around 12:00 PM lunch time on a Saturday, and was surprised to find the place pretty much empty. Food was okay, but a bit pricey for the quality.
Can use some improvement on the cleanliness side, saw two cockroaches just roaming the floor (small brown cockroaches, like the one found in condos) like they own the place. Also the occasional fly buzzing by. Not usually one to be annoyed by this, but unluckily, one flew right into my lemonade.
The canoli did not look anything like the picture in their menu at all (that's the one in the photo)
As for the service, I'm not sure if the waitress was just bored out of her mind or she was about to end her shift - but she did not look like she wanted to be there at all. We had to call her all the way from the other side for water refills, or menu orders, as she was mainly scrolling on the phone and looked as if she couldn't be bothered to at least spare a look or two at the only two people dining...
