Mixed Feelings at Kusina Bistro — Great Drinks, Okay Food, Tourist Prices
While strolling around in search of seafood, we stumbled upon Kusina Bistro—a half-open, Spanish-Filipino style place with a laid-back and cozy vibe. It looked promising, so we gave it a try.
Right away, they tried to upsell us on their family seafood platters—loaded with lobster and shellfish, priced at over ₱2500. Fair enough, but since it was just the two of us and we weren’t starving, we asked for smaller options. Luckily, they were flexible and offered à la carte dishes.
Now the real star of the evening? Their Weng-Weng during happy hour. My wife and I each ordered one—and wow. It didn’t taste that strong at first, but a couple of sips later I was tipsy beyond belief. Turns out it’s packed with six types of alcohol. If you're looking for a budget-friendly way to get buzzed fast, this drink’s a steal.
Food-wise, it was a mixed bag:
The Squid Sisig was flavorful and had a nice kick.
My Grilled Blue Marlin, though, felt like a missed opportunity—just plain grilled fish, no added flavor, no calamansi, garlic, or even basic seasoning. It needed more love.
Overall? The pricing is “reasonable” by beachfront standards, which still means touristy and inflated—but not the worst we’ve seen. You're paying for the location, not a culinary experience.
Would I come back? Maybe for the drinks, but not...

Dine in here for total of 8pax so we ordered multiple dishes. First they serve us a sisig that the sizzling plate is not hot, result to the egg on top being raw and uncooked. We just asked them to at least cooked a bit but they served back almost burnt.
After that they served us a chicken that's uncooked , see the picture below. It's still raw, We are not even rude even all these scenario and just ask them to cook it more, but all this no apology given, service staff all black face.Need to keep raising your hand for service, but staff are just standing not even busy. Had to stand multiple time to the cashier staff just to get attention.
Asked for the bill, and they had it wrong order, same scenario raise hand multiple time no one cares, so had to go to cashier directly and asked to be corrected, different staff but same rude face. Pls dine in here with caution, don't waste your...
Read moreWe went in for happy hour cocktails which is buy one get one. We ordered two cocktails, and clarified with the waiter we want two for the price of one, NOT 4 for the price of 2 when we finished ordered. The same waiter brought us the first two drinks. Halfway through drinking that he brings us another two. We tell him we specifically ordered just two not four. But he’s insisting we wanted the two full rounds. He starts being slightly aggressive and pushy. Wants us to pay for all of them. We say no, so he takes the second two drinks back. 5 minutes later he comes back and tells us we did order the 4 drinks as if we don’t know what we said? At this point he is essentially trying to force us to pay for the drinks we did not order. At the end, we did only pay for the one set of drinks. Not sure if it was just language barrier/miscommunication or if they were trying to scam us but the customer service was extremely poor. Do...
