We recently visited Real Coffee Cafe in Boracay with high expectations, only to be thoroughly disappointed by the overrated Calamansi muffins and unfriendly service. Regrettably, I can only give this establishment a 1-star rating based on my experience.
Let's start with the muffins. Despite the hype surrounding them, I found them to be completely underwhelming. They lacked the freshness and flavor that one would expect. The texture was a little bit dry, hard and heavy, making it difficult to enjoy each bite. The taste was mediocre at best, leaving me wondering what all the fuss was about. I've had far better muffins from local bakeries at a fraction of the price.
To make matters worse, the service at Real Coffee Cafe was shockingly unfriendly. The staff members appeared disinterested and showed a complete lack of enthusiasm in assisting customers. Their attitude was dismissive, as if they were doing me a favor by serving me.
Furthermore, the pricing was exorbitant for the quality of the muffins. I expected premium muffins at a premium price, but what I received fell far short of that expectation.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place to anyone seeking quality muffins and a pleasant atmosphere. Save your time and money by exploring other options that prioritize both taste and...
Read moreI had heard that they had views to die for and that they were the home of the original calamansi muffin, so I added this on my list to go to whilst in Boracay! I went around 11:30 in the morning and easily managed to get a seat at the front to enjoy the views. I guess at busier times, you may not be so lucky. Huge menu from breakfast to sandwiches, coffees, juices, shakes and more. A gentleman near me was having breakfast which looked good. I went for the calamansi muffin as I wanted to try this and an iced coffee. It was very peaceful and relaxing. Not too busy, and I ended up sitting there for over an hour enjoying the views. Nice atmosphere. Easy to miss. Despite being located on the beach, the entrance is small and you have to go up some stairs to reach the cafe. The muffin looked like a plain cupcake. It was small. However, for me it was very sweet with a slight tangy flavour. I can see why it was small and it started to become sickening. I enjoyed it, but I struggled to finish it. The bitter black iced coffee balanced out the sweetness. I tried it. I wouldn't have it again. Too sweet for me. I would go back for a coffee or to try one of their breakfast items. Cheap. Cash only. Clean. Staff are pleasant and friendly. ...

[ ] What did I just drink? Was that mud? It certainly wasn't coffee. [ ] I would only drink again if I had a raging caffeine-withdrawal headache and had no other options. [X] Not too bad, not too good. It'll do in a pinch. [ ] This is a good cup of coffee! Would drink again. [ ] This DEFINES coffee. Hordes of coffee houses pale in comparison. I am now hesitant to drink coffee anywhere else!
Additional Notes: My wife and I happened upon this café while we were exploring Boracay and thought it looked very picturesque. I ordered a mocha, and she ordered a Flat White; we also ordered some of their famous calamansi muffins.
I was not overly impressed by the coffee, but the friendliness of the staff, and ambiance of the upstairs dining area, and the incredible flavor of the calamansi muffins made this a place I would like to visit again! It's also cool to see pictures of many happy guests who have spent time in that place in the past.
There are some other options in Boracay for a decent cup of coffee, but trust me when I say you do not want to pass up the muffins here. They are so mouthwatering! And you really can't beat the view of the ocean from the upstairs...
