I brought my wife and in-laws here to have dinner. After being patrons of manila hotel and their great restaurants like cafe ilang ilang and champagne room, i can’t beleive that this is the first time that we will be able to try red jade. The restaurant has nice interiors and has a very cozy and intimate feel. Being filipino-chinese, i have to say that the place really embodies what a typical chinese restaurant is supposed to be and add a liitle more extra for posh and elegance.

But as always, it all boils down to the food. I ordered the dishes that are common in typical chinese restaurant menus. I did it to make a more accurate comparison. We had seafood spinach soup, sweet and sour pork, deep fried squid in salted egg yolk, spinach tofu with mushrooms and dried scallops, and red jade signature fried rice. Of all the dishes we ordered, the red jade signature fried rice is a definite winner. It was generous with toppings and you can really taste the crab meat. It was encased in lotus leaf which gave it more flavor. The squid was soft and unique with the salted egg yolk sauce. The soup was also tasty and loaded with seafood. The spinach tofu was great too and generous with sauce. The sweet and sour pork was ok but the meat was quite tough.

Bottomline, we had a great experience. Service was great and the staff were very attentive to our needs and were very accomodating. The serving of the food for ala carte short orders were generous and good for 3-4 persons. However, this restaurant is quite pricey. We enjoyed perks of having 50% off our food bill because of prestige vip membership and we also used a 1000 pesos voucher that also came with the vip membership. So you might want to reserve this restaurant for...

What we ordered: Deep-fried spareribs Saulted slice chicken with walnuts Steam rice Seafood sour soup Cocktails: 2 ( cherry blossom and the other one that I forgot the name) and beer Dim sum: 3 kinds dumplings combination and shrimp and pork siomai

Food: nothing special but the portion of the dish is good for 2 Cost: pricey Discount: if you are in house guest(The Manila Hotel guest), you are qualified for a discount. Atmosphere: not welcoming, I was waiting for my husband outside and I am watching the hostess faces, they are not smilling and looks like they don’t like their job. Server: our server Joseph and other guy takes our order right away, however, the drinks (cocktails) we ordered takes time to arrived. They offered hot tea and cold water. We waited for maybe 15 minutes or more for our food to be serve. During checkout: My husband and I waited for 30 minutes or more just for our receipt to generate. The server explained to me what is going on. The cause of the delay was they updating their service charge setting that should be done before restaurant hours. They offered complimentary dessert while waiting (cold...

I have been at the Manila Hotel a number of times mostly at the Fiesta Pavilion for events and large gatherings (primarily for PRC Induction, and Alumni Homecoming events). My first time to dine in at Red Jade. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere, and I heard that they recently hired a chef from Beijing that drastically improved the food quality. Everything that our host ordered was indeed delicious. Starting off with the complimentary wonton chips- drizzled with syrup was a delight. Steamed sea bass - tastes very fresh, plump and tender. (Better than Gindara) Spinach Seafood soup was great, had the right balance of soup and chunkiness of the seafood bits. Lechon Macau - very crispy skin and tender meat. Yang Chow rice - fluffy, chunky and delicious Spinach tofu with shimeji Mushrooms is also very good. The lamb chops were very tender, flavor is well balanced and not gamey. For dessert we had buchi with chocolate filling - it was heavenly. Highly recommended to eat it while hot. Savor each bite, and don't eat it in one bite 😄
