Local seafood place owned by or at least dedicated to the Filipino singer Claire dela Fuente. Cash, credit card and probably e-wallet payments accepted (credit cards require a surcharge). One of the biggest appeals of this place is that it has AC and is probably a notch or two higher in terms of atmosphere. It's a generic atmosphere so you're missing out on local atmospheric flavor, but that AC is really compelling, especially if you've walked here from any distance!
Seafood is the pride of place on the menu and runs the gamut of shellfish, fish, crab, octopus, crustaceans, etc. Prices are for cooking fee, not for the cost of the actual seafood you order. Basically you tell them what you want (choose either 1/4-1/2 kg option or the 3/4-1kg option) and they walk across the street to the seafood vendors and buy it and bring it back and cook it up. Ask plenty of questions if you're confused. Prices aren't unreasonable but they are higher than what you're calculating just by looking at the menu. They also have a few chicken (adobo) and pork options.
Pineapple rice is pricey but is both visually impressive and very tasty. Light and flavored with real chunks of the pineapple it's served in, along with bits of shrimp and I think pork. Worth the price. Garlic & butter chicken was overcooked and, of course, dripping in butter and garlic. Cut Asian style - basically chopping up the chicken like you'd slice a loaf of bread instead of separating into wings, thighs, legs, breast meat, etc. So rather bony by Western standards. The shrimp dish we ordered were whole shrimp boiled up in a broth with a bit of local greens, a few onions, some garlic. Very simple but very tasty. Shell on (of course) so you have to work for the goodness. Serving sizes are respectable and I'd encourage you to consider family style ordering and sharing a little bit of everything with everyone - that's clearly what the restaurant envisions you doing.
In terms of sides you have a short selection of white or fried rice as well as pansit and other stir fry veggie options and finally wet or dry noodles.
Beer, soda, some fresh fruit juices (seasonal), bottled water, coffee and tea for the drink menu. No desserts. Service is minimal but effective and service is relatively quick. Live music might include a guitarist and a vocalist serenading your table. ...
Read moreVery poor service and quality of food. Waited for more than an hour, only to be served with cold food. We even told the waiters after eating few spoonfuls, and yet, no response. As if we weren't there. No one bothered to talk to us or even say sorry, even after voicing out our concerns. We asked for their manager, and we were told that he/she went home already. Is it even possible for a restaurant like that to operate without any manager or supervisor around? We were not after the price of the food or if there's discount or service charge. It's just that, we were hungry. We're willing to wait, even if it's more than an hour. We can pay. We're okay with our seats, even if it's too crowded. We just wanted to be served with food that is well prepared and hot. And if there's a fee for their service, they should have done their part as well, not just loitering around and talking to each other. We even asked for their menu 3 times, and yet, no menu was given. Such poor service. A Big No No! So...
Read moreThis was always our first stop from the airport each time I come home after a long time away. And it has held its own the past few years and we had appreaciated the meals we had here. The last time we were here the food was still great however the wait time was slightly longer even if we were the only ones there and we only ordered 4 dishes, the place is slightly dated now the staff were all watching T.V. As if they were in their living room and you are a guest shy to cross the room because you’ll be i. Their way. When ondering here keep in mind that they charge per dish depending on the quantity of each dish, and when buying outside be sure to check the seafood before leaving the stalls as they tend to give their old stocks to un suspecting...
